Much data to NDAS HD kills internet connection with a WRT54G (v3.1)

Since a month I have a NDAS Hard drive connected to my network which has a WRT54G (v3.1 - firmware 4.21.1) router. Internet works and I can access my NDAS Hard drive just as a local HD.

As soon as I start transferring alot of data to the NDAS Hard drive (yesterday it was a copy of 1.7 gb) I lose the connection to my NDAS device and I lose my internet connection. The strange thing is that releasing and renewing the internet IP address on the router works, but the computers on the network are not able to get on the internet anymore. This all happens after the copy of data to the NDAS drive.
The only way to get my internet connection working again is doing a hard reset (button on the back of the router) and reconfiguring the router.

Does anyone have the same problem or does anyone know a solution for this problem?

Interesting. have you checked with support from the NDAS manufacturer? I wouldn't expect the Internet connection to bomb, slow it downs perhaps but not die completely.
