    hello all. :cheering:
please excuse the stupid question  as i am very new to this kind of stuff,
    i have got a linksys wrt54gs v4 / running dd-wrt 23
the question that i have is i only have the one pc connected to the internet via the router.using ntl cable modem broadband,
i just wanted to know how i would set the router up for the one pc and kind of use the router as a hardware firewall. i have disabled the wireless feature, i just wasn`t sure what else i had to configure :-(
and some times my internet is working then it goes off and then my ip address is 169.x.x.x and i have to reboot the router, then i can get on the internet again
any help or that would be nice
    many thanks ben  :cheer:

Find the checkbox on the setup page, that says
[ ] Use DNSmasq for DHCP

    Check it. Reboot.

This is the new DHCP server that is more reliable. Default older dhcpd is not reliable and will be going away in next firmware anyhow.
