this is for a Linksys WRT54G V6 router.
i'm trying to forward ports on 2 computers but i'm getting this error.

is there a way i can forward ports on the router so it works on all the computers plugged into the router or do i have to do it one by one like above?

also on the wireless connection, i have a laptop about 100ft away and it only gets 1 bar signal, are there any tweaks you can do in the router settings to get better signal, speed, and security?

i'm also running linksys firmware v1.02.2. what other 3rd party firmwares can i use on this router? i have only found linksys firmware and dd-wrt micro are these the only options for this router?

Give your application 2 different names, like Bnet1 & Bnet2. The overlap error will go away.

Can you forward the same ports to different internal ip's? I ask because i have never tried but would think that the router would get confused not knowing which machine to send the request too.

You can't have the same ports going to 2 different PC's at the same time. That's your problem.

You can have the same port going to different IP's. Just give each IP a different name.

Just as I posted in my first post...

It works for me but I use DD-WRT.

You only need to forward to the pc that will host the games. So take one of those off and call it good.

I play on Bnet all the time, and we only forward to one pc. Though the others may have to join someone else's game before being ably to join the one hosted on the lan.

Based on the error that is given. You can't have two different PC's forwarded with the same port. Now I notice in your screen shot you are using the default Linksys firmware. Maybe dd-wrt corrects and handles that issue. I haven't tried it yet myself, but when I once had the default Linksys hardware, I too ran into the same problem once.

The reason you should only beable to forward to one machine because the router does not know which machine you want the frame forwarded too. When it arrives on the wan interface it looks at the table and it is going to forward to the first match it makes. Being that it allows you to input more then one forward is misleading as it is not creating 2 internal flows at the same time. If the first match is not available, it should move on to the next but I would guess that it would only work if that first mac was not active on the network at that time.

I dont know why it works for me if it shouldn't but it does. Stranger things have happened. Best of luck.

It works because it sends the data to the first machine, if you want to test and tell us what you see ( i would be very curious to know), get a hub and run a packet sniffer on the traffic that comes into the network.

It works on the second as well. My kids download WOW updates with Azureus just as its setup.

It will always work from the inside out, sessions are built that way. I still would be very curious to see what data is sent. I have a hard time believing that you can setup multiple port forward from the same port to the same port and have the router split the data stream to both machines at the same time.

if i flash my router to dd-wrt micro firmware will i be able to flash it back to linksys firmware if i dont like it? can i change the xmit option with dd-wrt micro, will this option help my wireless signal?

i heard that to get better wireless signal i could mount the router on the wall so it stands vertical and to turn off ssid broadcast is this true?
