I followed all the directions as stated in "Revival tip 3" in this post:

    http://www.linksysinfo.org/modules.php?name=Content&pa=showpage&pid=33

Everything was going good until the tftp program said "Unable to get responses from the server." I have everything set up perfectly: static IP (192.168.1.2) with subnet (255.255.255.0) and 10mbps/Half Duplex. If I am able to ping from 192.168.1.1 successfully, why am I not able to use this same server IP in the tftp program without getting this error? Please help me.

Hmmm, this is weird. All along my router's firmware was not damaged. I just could not connect to it using a wired connection. I used a wireless connection instead, and I was able to type the gateway into my browser and connect to the router. I did have third party firmware, and for some weird reason I could never get DHCP or a Static IP to work with my cable internet, so I decided to take it off. Well, it was pretty hard. I went from Alchemy firmware (was using that because my DSL has been down ever since hurricane Katrina, so I had to steal someone else's internet from three houses down, but I ditched DSL and got cable) to Satori firmware, to DD-WRT PSP firmware, and finally to DD-WRT fimware, all because I was trying to find a firmware that would allow me to go back to stock firmware. I thought that the PSP firmware would allow me to go back since it did just that when I had a WRT54G, but I guess that this does not work with the GS. But the normal DD-WRT works! I am glad now that I finally have my working Linsys stock firmware and working internet. I might not have third party firmware on my GS for a long time.
