I bought a Linksys wireless router on EBAY. It is a model WRT54 G and it says version 2 on the bottom.

I bought this thing as new... received it and guess what, it may be new but there is no support info, manuals, start up disc, nothing. I filed a complaint with Paypal but they sided with the seller... allowed him to get away with selling this to me as "new".

Anyway.. I need some help setting it up.

I currently have a BEFSR41 linksys router which has worked for both of our computers for many years.. bought a lap top so I thought I get a router so that I could have wired and wireless connection...

Can some one send me to the right web site to get this set up? I'm not the most computer savy person so I need some basic help

For configuration: ; no username, pass=admin
If that doesn't work then hold the reset button until all the lights start to flash, then try again.

    For the manual: http://www.linksys.com

    Manuals? What are they?!

If you own a Linksys router already, logging onto your 2nd hand new WRT54G should be straight forward.

    Thanks... I'll try it

    1) If it doesn't work for whatever reason, can I go back to my old router without complication?

    2) What do you mean by being "straight forward"??? You stated ... logging onto your 2nd hand new WRT54G should be straight forward."

He meant that since you already own one Linksys router that setting up the WRT54G should be easy. All Linksys products use a very similar interface.. so if you've configured one then you've configured them all.

If you suspect it isn't new, then do a hardware reset by holding down the reset switch for at least 30 seconds, while powering up the unit.
    1. Press the reset switch (and keep pressed)
    2. Power ON
    3. Wait at least 30 seconds before release of the reset switch. Then 30 more seconds after you release it.
    4. Power Off
    5. Power On.

Then you should be able to see wireless network "Linksys" and access with no username and password "admin".

OK boys... I tried what you said... it didn't work. Had plenty of flashing lights but no internet at the computer.

All I did was plug it in like the old one...

Was I suppose to do something else?
