I have a linksys WRT54G ver 2.2. I am wanting to run a web/ftp/email server, play some games, so i need a few more port forwards than the stock firmware gives me. Also I am trying to fix a connection drop issue, where all of a sudden I will be able to get onto the router, but not the internet from any computer in my network. Any suggestions on which firmware to use?

Out of all of one option I suggest you pick the only firmware that works.

i dont think that this is a firmware problem. this could be a hardware problem. try to see if you have configured the router right to conect to your isp. when this happens does the wrt drop wireless too. if not then it could be a problem with your isp. if it does then a problem with the wrt.

even if you change the firmware on the router you might not sovle the problem you could make it worse because most firmwares out there are in beta.

i think that you could use iptables to do more port forwards right?

yeah you can setup port fwds though iptables, quite a few actually.
