Hi, I've just bought a new computer and set it up on my wireless network, all the other computers work fine on the wireless network, except mine.

The computer says it has connected to the wireless network, and the scans pick up signals, but even though it is connected it cannot load webpages or do other internet functions which is confusing me.

I have a Static IP adress, which I had to create due to incredibly long wait times in "Aquiring Network Address". I think this is related? Is this my settings, wireless card or Router?

    I have a Linksys WRT54G

    Thanks for any help.

NB: Sometimes the internet works fine on it on startup.

Well initial guess would be that you used an ip within the dhcp scope and some other machine is picking up that same ip. If this is the case you would have to set your machine to dhcp or use an ip from the high end of the range, say above .200 or above. I am sure you dont need to go quite that high but its safe to say that out of the box your router is not going to give a .200 address, i know alot of them give .100 and the only way you are going to run into an issue is if the subnet has been changed to something other then

Did you check that your Default Gateway on your computer is correct [not blank]?

This is even a better point and would better explain it not working, also wouldnt necessarily have to be blank but verify it is correct.
