Hi all, I have just bought an Netgear 614v8 router. This is a broadcom based router and well suited for Tomato, DD-WRT, OpenWRT. In fact they mentains a forum also to support the open source initiatives - www.myopenrouter.com. I have serched through this site and found the Tomato has already been ported for this platform. So great effort....
Developers can try this product. Really good one with additional forum support.

I have also bought this router and already tried the tomato firmware. It is working fine. I have also found one DD-WRT firmware in DD-WRT site. That was also working on this WGR614L router.
This is really a great news for developers.

Could you give me the idea about the firewall of WGR614l. Is it part of software or hardware?

mona, if you are using Tomato firmware released in myopenrouter then it is possible to go back to the default Netgear Firmware, The 0415 Tomato release supports uploading Netgear chk image from its firmware upgrade page. Try it out. Best of Luck

Netgear has now officially released DD-WRT firmware along with its source. So you can download that code and make new firmware. Please try it.

Hmm, I just saw this model at a local store. Does it support client mode over WPA either natively, with tomato or dd-wrt? I'm looking for an inexpensive means to connect a 360 and PC wirelessly to my existing WRT54Gv5. The v5 is connected via wire to a v2 which is my cable router.

Yes, I am using this router with Tomato firmware. This firmware supports client mode in WPA. And as far I know DD-WRT also supports this feature. So definitely you can go for this router...
