I've just moved to a house, and need some advise on getting my networking setup right.

I have a 2 story house + basement, and a garage. My DSL router (WRT54G v2.0) is above the garage (location of servers) and I have a WRE54G extender located on the first floor in the house. I get a signal in part of my basement and top floor, but would like to extend the range.

Is getting another WRE54G the best way to go?
Is it effective to dowload alternate firmwares that boost the signal?
Are bigger antenas better? (If so which ones)
    I also have a WAP54G that I don't use, can this be a repeater?
