We have just bought a Linksys WAG354G and installed it on our network. The internet connection at all four machines works ok, but we can not get the PC's to see each other across the network! We have checked ipconfig which informs us that the DNS Suffix is 'domain_not_set_invalid' We are not sure if this is part of the problem, so we can do with some help if anyone has any ideas?

The linksys see's the four PC's in DHCP Clients table

Previously we had a zoom modem and a linksys router and we had no problems with networking or internet except for the zoom loosing connection, hence the change.

    We are UK based

are you trying to connect through network neighborhood? or with the computers IP addresses? are the computers all on the same workgroup?

as jgutz20 said the workgroup or domainname must be the same. ALL must have shared folders for each other to see.

if all running XP then make sure if you have a domainname that ALL versions of XP are Professional versions as XP home doesn't support domains, if thats the case then set ALL PCs to have the same workgroup name.

make sure ALL firewalls allow access from the other PCs IP addresses.

Thanks Guys, we have all the above in place, funny thing is the following day when we started all the machines the network neighborhood found all the PC's and the share files. We now have a network back!

The only thing that is concerning us now is the same DNS lable comes up on ipconfig for DNS Suffix, 'domain_not_set_invalid'? Should we worry about this as this was never on our previous modem/router setup?
