Networking wired PC & wireless laptop

I've got a WRT54G v4 Broadband router. It's wired directly to a desktop PC and I use a DW6000 to get to the internet. All of that works fine. I'm trying to connect a Wireless laptop but it doesn't see the router. I've got a good signal on the laptop and it appears to be sending and receiving packets of something when I look at the network status. When I use the Linksys CD to try to setup a wireless network, it says "SecureEasySetup requires that the WI-FI system application be installed a current version. Please ensure that the application is installed and the version number is 3.90 or higher." I've googled for help but I'm not getting anywhere. Somebody suggested I need more up-to-date router firmware but I can't find anything newer than my v4.20.6, May 26, 2005.
    Can anyone help? Thanks.

I had a similar issue about 3 weeks ago. I could see the network at times but could not attach to it. I ended up jotting down my router settings and then doing a hardware reset of the router. Once I reentered my settings, the wireless worked fine.

    Good Luck! :thumb:

I looked at my registration information and noticed I had the wrong router registered. I registered the correct model and went to the firmware update link, downloaded upgraded firmware, and we started communicating. I'm still figuring how to share printers and files but this is progress.

create the share on the printers, turn off all firewalls for the time being. then try to connect to the other computer, you can browse the local network, or in IE you can type in the IP address of the destination computer which hosts the printers: (ex: \\
