FYI, UPnP still crashes, though it works after restarting it via telnet.
    Code:
    upnp -W vlan1 -L br0

tried the file marked as wrt54gsv4 on my wrt54gsv4 but the upgrade failed. previous firmware was dd-wrt v23 9.30.05.

if the previous firmware was dd-wrt v23 this new firmware header wont work. this is only made for original linksys fw

one question. is it really true that the gsv4 has only 4 mb flash and 16 mb ram?

I've read this, too. U can read this @ openwrt wiki.

i hope this isn't true :(. i got this for the extra memory (hoping that the firmware will continue to grow).

tell me how to check and i'll post the results.

EDIT: checking the system status page shows this:

    Mem Info
    total used free shared buffers Mem: 14192 10424 3768 0 1340 Swap: 0 0 0 Total: 14192 10424 3768

looks like 16mb to me :(

16 mb ram. so this is not just a rumour

Could this be why UPnP crashes???

The QoS Services page seems to be fixed, though newly added services don't get sorted and appear in lowercase on the QoS page.

    v23-beta

Web interface crashes after Saving configuration. This seems to happen after approx 3-4 occurances.

When using Telastra Heartbeat the status page shows Disconnected at times (especially after changing some config) however it is connected.

Time Zone Setting "Australian Central +9.30)" does not work and always defaults back to "Australian Eastern Time +10.00"

Gregd - are you doing logging? syslog or internal??

If you are logging, after you do the save config (and httpd crash) does your logging still work??

has anyone else had problems with remote administration? when enabled, I cannot connect to my router from outside of my network. this problem has been occuring since the september 20 release of v23 for me.

also messed up is the xirian style - was working with 9.30 release. the links at the top are swapped (lower row is above the other).

EDIT: web administration works now...my mistake.

@Brainslayer: is there anyway to disable the status page to people on the wan side of the network while still allowing lan users to see it? it's really nice since i don't have to login every time for information but i don't want just anyone to be able to see it.

It is also not working for me. I also cannot get WDS to work with the latest version. I believe I have all the settings right, but the two v4 units will not talk.

I'll enable logging when i get home as right now i cannot get to the routers admin interface. At the time the bug occurs it does drop the WAN connection also but does not bring the interface back up. I tested this remotley as now i cannot ping the box nor my port forwarding (VoIP) is not working either.

I did eventually come back up (4hrs) but i made another change and it went down again.....

post your setup in a new thread and i'll see if i can help. it was fairly easy for me to setup with the guide that is on this site.

*note: mac filtering is not necessary.

    good luck

    WDS does work

Update on my reported WDS problem. I did the "30 second" reset again (I did it after loading dd-wrt initially) on each box and reconfigured them. WDS then started working.

SSH (dropbear) is still not running when first enabled. A reboot will fix this. However, it looks like HTTPS is ALSO enabled when I set to enable SSH from the Administration page (using the Brainslayer GUI in Firefox under Windows XP). Haven't touched the HTTPS checkbox. When I do go and check that box, some other processes are run such as pptpd. When I uncheck HTTPS again, those processes are killed but httpd -S still remains according to process status. Killing and rebooting doesn't seem to solve the problem. This really isn't a big deal but is a bug nonetheless.

FYI, a lot of local computer stores in my area are starting to get the GSv4 models in stock (CGN6). I plan to purchase one to verify that Linksys has or has not indeed reduced the flash and memory storage on the unit and will report back with my findings.

UPDATE: Picked up a brand new GSv4, and sure enough it only had 16MB of RAM. So I attempted to flash back to the Linksys firmware and couldn't from the web interface, "Upgrade are failed", so I then tried TFTP and this worked. I will return this to the store tomorrow. Good thing I have a couple of GSv2.1s spare, this seems to be the sweet spot model WRT in my opinion.

    Cheers,
    skip

I had a similar brick occur with my WRT54GSv3 where all LAN LEDs were solid green and you could not establish a wired connection to any of the ports. I tried every reset/debrick method out there, and in the end the only solution for me was to open the unit, and short pin 16 on the flash chip to ground. Unfortunately, I'm not sure if you can restore a bricked ASUS router this way. Someone like Brainslayer or anyone else with an ASUS will have to comment on this one.

    Cheers,
    c

this happends on older releases than 01/11/05. in the latest its solved. to debrick it you have to ground pin 10 of your flash chip until the led's are going off. then plug off the power and replug it. now the asus should be in recovery mode for tftp flashing
