Topic says it all, can I just flash it from sveasoft?
currenty using Alchemy-6.0-RC5a v3.01.3
yes it would be perfectly safe todo so.
Well I can imagine it is not perfectly safe since I bricked my WRT54G by trying the very same operation... I have never been able to revive it.
May be some special precautions are to be taken ?
xond, have you tried to open it up and short the pins to boot it into failsafe?
Yes I also tried this rescue procedure (following the link on hyperwrt website).
I succeeded to ping the unit, but I never managed to flash it back to hyperwrt. I had to buy a new unit. I won't try any sveasoft version again unless I learn of a failsafe procedure to switch bach to another firmware. Anyway, for now I am very pleased with hyperwrt 2b04
i have been able to flash from Alchemy to hyperwrt many times., without problems
Well, my bad luck allows to say that it is not necessarily perfectly safe.
I have read other posts relating similar failures to switch from alchemy to hyperwrt.
May be some precautions are to be taken ? Reset the router and revert to factory settings are some suggestions I have read. I don't know their real value though.
If you hold the reset button on the back of the router for 30 seconds, the firmware settings should revert back to default settings.
The issue is whether resetting the router increases or not the likelihood of a successful flash from alchemy.
