What are the benefits of using this driver over the Linksys one?
Any idea if it will cure me of a timeout issue I seem to have acquired since updating linksys driver to (I think!). Rolling back the driver has not cured me of the problem.

The drivers provided by the chipset manufacturers are always better because up to date !

typically bare essentials to get the device up and running, no installers and "extras" thrown in

I think Ralink RT2500 looks better than Linksys ones. Ralink also provides drivers for 64 bit windows. :D

Do you know if these drivers will work with the WMP54GX v1.0? I searched everywhere for the Airgo drivers but can't find them. I am running Windows XP x64 edition and am pretty much stuck with no drivers. :frown:

    No !
The only driver I know for GX is the Linksys (wnihdd50.sys 13/04/2005)

By the way, could you give me the 4 first characters of your serial number ?

Do you know where I can obtain this driver and does it work with Windows XP Pro x64? If so, you are a lifesaver!

I'll get you the first 4 characters of the serial number when I get home from work. I have to open up the PC and check.

I tried downloading the Linksys drivers from your site but had trouble due to the page being in French. Thanks for your help.

The WMP54Gv4has the RT2500 chipset and the WMP54Gv4.1 has the RT61
chipset. Which is the better adapter ???

And this will burry forever this piece of junk software , now totally outdated, signed linksys + Cisco, for this WMP54G-4.1 card.

Can anyone tell me if the WUSB54GS uses the RT2500 chipset? I tried modifying drivers to suit it, but it didn't work.

Have the RT61 adapter for 6 months now. I don't have any experience of the RT2500. I'm using this WMP54G/RT61 adapter with 2 netgear's WG602 APs

The RT61 chip works fine, but I had a lot of trouble with the Linksys S/W: The board was unusable in Network Neighborhood due to strong discrepancies of arp management. This led to random behavior of network folders/printers sharing, and internet access.

After installing the Ralink S/W, the board now rocks :) . Works fine for internet access as well as network neighborhood/folder/printer sharing. Connections are stable and efficient. The Ralink S/W allows also easy tuning of various parameters.
I strongly recommend using the Ralink S/W (although a bit tricky to install) instead of the Linksys one, for this WMP54g/RT61 board.
