    hmm httpd is buggy still

I upgraded to mini version and lost httpd after reboot.

luckily enough telnet was still running so

    httpd -d /www

was given and could then log into GUI

    however

shows it is not enabled and https has disappeared from same menu bar.

I will now do a hard reset to see what happens, though tbh i dont wanna loose all my settings:)

Voip is gone from the voip version and the "firmware upgrade" page is not loading. It will be fun to try out to upgrade to the next version....

    Problems with WPA-PSK (TKIP+AES) WDS

    Having problems with WDS between 2 WRT54G (v 2 and v 2.2 models).

With WPA-PSK + only AES work fine, with TKIP+AES not.

    Could anybody confirm this?

WRT54G 2.0 config problems with Mozilla under WinXP

WRT54G 2.0 config problems with Mozilla under WinXP

After saved some configuration parameters, I noted that changing anothers, the SAVE button don't works under HTTP, after that I tried using HTTPS and it works.

I noted that saving wireless parameters, administration parameters, etc... (under same circunstances = wrt54 2.0, mozilla, http/https, WinXP) thar parameters are saved, but nogt applied "on-line", I must telnet/ssh the device and reboot.

Could be some type of disfunction with WRT54G v 2.0 models?

This beta were flashe over a ddwrt22r2 as this:
    1) telnet + mtd erase nvram && reboot.
    2) Flashing using web iface.
    3) telnet + mtd erase nvram && reboot.
    4) Configuration tasks.

Flashed the normal version, not "mini" or "voip" versions.

My congratulations for all dev/test team.

NTS doesn't get started after reboot. Have to disable it, hit save, enable it back on and hit save again since the 11/01 release.

Is the problem with unreachable httpd solved in the 04.11 version? I have currently running v23b2/27.10, but i'm getting sometimes that i can't open the management through IE. (perhaps using telnet is better?)

edit: 2nd thing: wireless works on channel 6 with 27.10version. When changing to channel 11 un and secured through WPA + TKIP, laptop can't find the router anymore.

Perhaps i'm going to update it to 04.11, or the v22.2 (final)

    QOS

OK so this is the firmware process I follow

mtd erase nvram command via telnet three times in row
    reboot router
Then log into router goto adim page select upgrade firmware
    Select hardware default
    Browse to firmware then upgrade
Once the router settles back down and I can login I do a reset for 30+ sec via reset button on back
Then I power cycle the router
Finally I login and put all my settings in manually

I did this as susual but for some reason the QOS is not working correctly I can set it up and it will throttle correctly to my ~80% of my connection speed but the packet prioritization is not working... I have getting some large variance in ping time for my VOIP packets while downloading. When I used the 10/27 build all works correctly but not with the current 11/4 build.

    Flashed in V23 11/04 Std on my WRT54G V3.1

    1) Loaded firmware and hard reset
    2) enable logging
    3) load web page

    NO LOGGING is happening.

This was working (with known limitations) in the 10/30 build)

are you logging to an application like wallwatcher?

  20. dellsweig

    dellsweig Network Guru Member

We are talking about just gettint the GUI log viewer working. Once that is working I will have no problem using syslog to get the logs out.

    Simple test

    in DD-WRT V23

    1) enable logging
    2) load www.linksysinfo.org in the browser of your choice
    3) view your outbound log on DD-WRT

I cannot get that working with the 11/04 STD build on a WRT54G 3.1

  21. dellsweig

    dellsweig Network Guru Member

    BTW: Syslog is working.

If I telnet to the router and type
    "logger test"

The test message is sent to my syslog viewer

The problem appears to be in the iptables logging

    Let me clarify:

The DD-WRT logviewer - Log.asp - shows empty. Logging is set to high, enabled and on for accept, drop and reject

I am using a syslog viewer on a local PC. The WRT is receiving kernel messages in syslog but nothing from the iptables filters.

When I telnet to the router, I can use the kernel logging function to send a test message to the klogd process. This message is processed by the WRT and sent to my syslog viewer

If I type "iptables -L" I can see all of the iptables filters but there are no filters defined for logging

I noticed a problem in the web interface.

When you hit "Add" in "Services Priority" under QoS section, the httpd is killed. Perhaps you should disable all buttons until the QoS is enabled.

    Really nice work BrainSlayer, greets.

    Exactopposite:
I don't see anyone replying, but the Nov 4 release is the first one I've ever tried and I can't seem to get it to work. I thought I may be doing something wrong (I followed the FAQ)

Was there an older version which you found worked? I may go try that... (Or better yet, I hope the problem is verified and fixed quickly!)

Here is a link to the iptables output for the 11/04 build (logging does not work) and the 10/27 build where logging works.

I notice the busybox versions are different - I wonder if that could be where the problem lies

I tried to flash the dd-wrtv22.2r2-final-firmware (i've had v23b2, 27/10, but that firmware wasn't really stable; maximum uptime was 23h, lost each day several times my connection and had disconnect on irc) on my wrt54gv2.2 router, but that wasn't a success. The External ip was there, but none of the computers on my little network could ping an outside ipaddress.

Now i'm flashing it to 04/11 and i'm curious if the problem exist or just go away..

DHCPd isn't working on the 04-11 version. The boxes that were filled in (mac/host/ip) are empty after saving the config (in IE, i haven't tried it yet in FireFox 1.07)

/edit: it's working now.. If i want to add more than one static host, i've to save it before adding a new one.

I'm new here, so maybe I'm missing something:

I find it confusing when an existing thread subject is renamed with a new firmware revision. As a result, it's frequently difficult to tell which firmware revision the complaint is about. People don't always explicitly state which firmware they are testing against.

Even if someone posts a message today, when new firmware was released, they may be testing against the firmware from 3 days ago.

    Just my 2 cents...

What does "client mode fixed" mean?
I have never had client bridge mode work with WPA with any previous release on my WRG54G v2. Maybe this one will work. Will try it when I get home.

    WDS interfaces names error

    I discovered in 20051104 beta 2 that wds's iface names isn't like:
    wds0.2, wds0.3, ... wds0.N.

At least, with only 2 WRT54G (v 2.2) wds, the first wds iface name is wds0.49153.

The question is: Is this a bug?

I think this problem could be affect to another features.

Could anybody confirm this problem with their devices?

Only have a wds link between 2 WRT54G with last beta installed and run:

ifconfig this don't show fifth decimal digit, but with brctl showbr br0 will show the last decimal digit.

    Sorry for my english.

    Here one bug:
Adminstration Page/Additional DNS Options Text Field. Each line ends with an "
". After saving the settings the "
" are doubled... and so on.

Oh... it seems to be a "Newline".. well.. it looks like this (without space):
    & # 1 3 ;

    All lines start with multiple ;;;

    Question:
    What is this?
    /tmp/ppp/ip-up ppp0 vlan1 0 "my_wan_ip" 62.214.64.

It is allways running.. even after the connection is up since half an hour...?!

After a full reinstall of XP I forgot to reinstall the Microsoft WPA2 Patch.... $*$ù*ù !

Ok...download, 07.11.2005 V23..... installed and ......client router mode work in "WPA pre-shared key" AND "WPA2 pre-shared only" :thumb:

The only "bug" I see in what I use is that the firmware update don't work with firefox. Some compatiblility problems need to be fixed in files transfert.

Now I will see the stability in time.

    Very impressive work !

I upgrade to 07.11.05 build and I'm not sure this is the new busybox or something else. When I telnet into the router and do a 'ps', the processes display list is display only the first 79 characters. It doesn't matter if the telnet window is wider than 79 character or not.

Is there some settings to make it to display the whole thing?

    Thx

P.S. I'm using std build on gs v3 if this matters

    04.11.05-dd-wrt.v23.std_beta2 dd-wrt.v23_wrt54gsv4.bin

    Brainslayer,

When I try to firmware upgrade to the dd-wrt.v23_wrt54gsv4.bin from today's build (4-11-05) it states the following:

    Code:
    Firmware are failed.
I am upgrading from the 03-11-05 version (both copies are the "std" versions). Perhaps something didn't compile right with this version.

I wanted to upgrade because in the version 3-11-05 copy client mode doesn't work properly. When "client mode" is selected it acts as a "client bridged mode." -- which is annoying since I'd like to firewall off this group of computers from the other network's AP.

    11/01 - 11/07

And as I reported earlier, the WAN IP just does not get renewed properly after a few hours. I have to click on the renew button on the status page when this happens. It is the filmware as my DSL modem does stay connected -- which usually blinks when it gets disconnected.

The 11/07 build is a little more stable than the 11/01 one, though.

Just a question; does this mean that after 4-5 hours, the connection lost to the internet?
If so, i've also this problem (now installed 04.11). I can't leave my downloads and uploads on in the night (bittorrent and/or from newsleecher) because in the morning, the connection is 'down'.

Fixed that typo too? I'm sure that "Firmware are failed" isn't correct English. I believe I'm flashing only ONE firmwary binary to my router so it should be "Firware (upgrade) IS failed". Hope to see the final soon. DD-WRT Rocks!

Firmware flashed to 07.11, 10mins ago.

(bug?): i didn't have to fill in my preferred port forwarding-ports, when clicking on 'add', the old setting i had in 04.11 was there. (i've used the reset-to-factory setting before and after flashing)

If i find some more bugs or weird thing, i'll edit my reply.

Don't worry about the typos, as long as it works! I think we all understood that the firmware upgrade failed, with or without the typo :)

For the record, if you are going to change anything, try "Firmware upgrade has failed."

    Hi there,

This is what I have found so far:
1, Values on the port forwarding page are still available. Yes, the table is empty but for each line I add, my old values appear automatically.
2, I can't limit WAN access to a set of computers (MAC addresses) anymore. As soon as I try to save on the MAC address page the UI dies and the settings are lost.
3, Adding a new service on the QoS and pressing save doesn't bring you back to the QoS page but to a completely different tab.

(this was found on a GS v1.1 router. Before upgrading from previous release I restored factory defaults, which I also did once more after loading the new firmware)

    Cheers

Based on the iptables output above, I assume my router is wide open, no filtering, no access lists.

I am now getting echo and chatter in my VoIP connections so I assume QoS is not working as well

With bittorrent open (Peers: 91, Sockets: 848 (HTTP: 4), Established TCP-Connections: 98, Half-Open TCPConnections: 2). The router is going like mad.

I just have configured QoS (filled in Upload, Downlink and service bittorrent as priority 'bulk'). Let's see if this is better for the uptime of the router (started around 12:07, had to reboot it twice now).

What i just noticed; after every setting, the WLan-connection is rebooting (turn off/turn on). Is this ok?

Does your connection to the Internet (re: WAN DHCP lease issue) stay put?

I opened up a ticket and he said that he updated the DHCPD in today's release. He wondered why the WAN would be renewing its IP.

I want to wait a couple of days, to see if QoS is fixed before trying testing it again.
