What do you want your router to do? If you focus more on QoS many people suggest Gargoyle instead of tomatousb. For all other features, Tomatousb is the best imo.

Hey go for Netgear R7000 best router on the market, no suported by Tomato yet, but you have all you want right now. The fastest and powerful with AC1900 Wi-Fi 600+1300 Mbps Speed, first on market at 1GHz Dual Core Processor, i heard that some devs from Tomato are on Beta right now;)

That is seems not a very technological answer for oddis64, he is asking for advise, not a hooligan/tiffosi answer.
I also have an Asus RT-16 (great work horse) that donated to the condominium as repeater from my R7000.

Asus just announced it's AC87 router, Dual proccessor, 2/5ghz 4x4MIMO and MU-MIMO to handle multiple groups of wireless at once. No clue if it will be open or not (like the linksys will) I sent an email to the asus press guy to ask, we will see.

Well that's good, but devs are going to have some delay developing it, i think so.
They need to have it on their hands first of.
May be is not so difficult to port what they already have on it.
    Merlin has the answer.
