Asus ac68u or net gear R7000 are good choice IMHO

The netgear R7000 with tomato firm has good throughput? Some one can tell me about his experience with R7000 and tomato firm?

my R7000 is boring itself to death at 12% with QoS enabled on a PPPoE 50Mbit connection. can't say what 300 would look like.

You're probably going to have a better time for the moment with the Asus then the Netgear, mainly due to support from the manufacturer. In the long run the Netgear may be better as the CPU is clocked a little higher, but time will tell ;)

From the beginning, i'm going to install the Shibby's tomato firm. I think that i will buy the R7000 because is cheaper, 139€ vs 155€.

You can try AC56 as well - the CPU is pretty beefy and the router should be cheaper.

I like the performance of them, but with similar specs is cheaper.

The router has been installed, and it run impresionant. After adjust the 5Ghz wifi (if the laptop connected the phone not) set the channel 36 and the control sideband to lower, the rate is 866.5 Mbps, not bad ;).
Now I have a doubt with the CTF. Without CTF the speed is that the ISP sell, but I don't know if is better active the CTF or if is not necessary is best uncheck it.

enabled CTF breaks QoS functionality from what i've read. so your conclusion is sound.

For the moment I don't need QoS, so I'll keep it enabled for less cpu use.

Hello, what version of tomato do you use and can you enable qos without performance lost at 300/30? Thanks

Hi, use the last version, V130. I don't use qos, can't tell nothing about the performance

Hi, yesterday I did some test without CTF and I could see that the max speed download was 250-260 Mb, but with CTF the download speed is 301-310Mb. The upload speed doesn't change, 30-31 Mb. So if with CTF you don't have qos, and without CTF don't get more than 260 Mb (with qos maybe less)...
