tried tomato-K26-1.28.9001MIPSR1_RAF_NOCAT-Std.trx today but had to revert back to tomato-K26-1.28.8603MIPSR1_RAF-Std.trx
Problem was that i got iptable errors in syslog and behavoir of router was abnormal. Dont no why. I had Port Forwarding, QoS amd BW Limiter
enabled. But deactivate them doesnt solve the problem.I was to lazy to find the problem so i reverted back to previous version which
worked for weeks without a problem. So new version is no go for me :(

Guys is there a general more-or-less up2date guide on getting Optware installed on a Victek RAF MIPSR2 unit e.g. Asus RT-N16?
  3. TexasFlood

    TexasFlood Network Guru Member

der_Kief, I'm just using tomato-K26-1.28.9001MIPSR1_RAF_NOCAT-Std.trx as an access point so not using any of that stuff. Working OK for that but obviously not putting it through it's paces with Port Forwarding, QoS amd BW Limiter.

    BW Limiter schedule

My ISP provides unlimited access on a schedule (1am-7am)

Is there a way to automatically enable the BW limiter on a schedule?
  5. Azuse

    Azuse LI Guru Member

Well the virgin script adjusts qos limits based on data use and time so probably, or at worst you'd have to make do with qos which is workable (just more complex).

Would take a fair bit of scripting tho.
  6. Victek

    Victek Network Guru Member

Virgil, sure, you can create a cron process enabling-disabling BW limiter service.. using any of the options available in Administration/Scheduler, the correct syntax should be.

    Custom1 , select time .. 1 A.M. (everyday.. days of the week...)
    service new_qoslimit stop

Custom2, select time ... 7 A.M (everyday.. days of the week...)
    service new_qoslimit start

Also you can create a rule to fix down/up overall BW for instance... open to imagination ... and then you can customize Virgin settings..
    Save... and run :J

    IPv6 Support

    Does tomato-K26-1.28.9001MIPSR1_RAF_NOCAT-Std.trx include IPv6 support?

I know your recent builds include some of Teddy Bear's work and his Build 53 mentions IPv6 support.

    Thanks in advance.
  8. WRobertE

    WRobertE Addicted to LI Member

Well, I see this in the log:

    daemon.info dnsmasq[2859]: compile time options: no-IPv6 GNU-getopt no-RTC no-DBus no-I18N DHCP TFTP no-IDN

So, I'm guessing no IPv6 support here.

guys sorry if this is a bit Off Topic.
with VictekTomatoRAF we have an amazing piece of work thanks to Jon, Vic and all the other contributors.

the problem is I do not know of any "professional" router which can run these Tomato releases (e.g. rack mountable, strong power supply, metal chassis).

I have tried some much more expensive (netgate/pfSense, cisco, sonicwall, etc) routers and found them to be lacking when compared next to TomatoRAF -- both in features as well as performance. But its hard to convince people when they look at the cheap plastic blue router that you hold in your hand that it's good enough to run their network.

does anyone know of a unit that will run Tomato that is closer to this:
  10. Victek

    Victek Network Guru Member

luckman212, Yes, unfortunately people don't take as a serious alternative one plastic case with some LEDS, Oh wait! it works! ...
Some friends (before they were customers) are using 'plastic cases' in their business now, the RT-N16 is likely matching Small Office and also suitable Home Office (SOHO) look. But this doubt dissipates after 1-2 month working time when I ask them about the router... they forgot where is the "plastic case with LED's" and the 'reset' hole ... this is definitive.
Some of them don't want to update .. and Tomato 1.14 is running in a dirty blue-brown (WRT54GL) plastic box..

Question with the Linksys E4200. Since DD-WRT finally has the 5GHz band working. Even though it is a bit buggy atm from what I heard. Will you be bringing support any time soon for the 5GHz band with the E4200?
  12. Victek

    Victek Network Guru Member

Yes, if dd-wrt did ... it means Openwrt did ... and Tomato can afford it too.

    QoS Bandwidth Limiter Problem

    Hi Victek,

Excellent build. I've been running it for a little while and it's fantastic. I'd like to see the tc-atm patch brought through to the GUI though. A rudimentary play with that patch has made an enormous impact in overall performance and usability for VOIP.

    Recently I upgraded to:
    Tomato Firmware RAF1.28.9001 MIPSR1_RAF_NOCAT K26 Std

And I thought I'd try out the bandwidth limiter.

But I'm having a problem. In both Chrome & Firefox I'm unable to input an IP range in.

If I put an individual IP such as and tab away from that box it puts it in there as

Similarly, the IP range becomes 192.168.111-149. And clicking OK says "Invalid IP Address".

If I use the example it takes that without issue. Also MAC addresses are also taken without issue.

It appears to be a javascript validation issue.
  15. mhook

    mhook Networkin' Nut Member

1.28.9001 build appears to be missing tc-atm patch?

When I run tc from the command line it's saying that it doesn't understand the atm keyword.

I've only recently tried using tc-atm. It thought it was added into the victek build some time ago?
  16. Victek

    Victek Network Guru Member

It's a syntax bug, to be corrected in next release, ignore the warning and run...

    Scheduled BW limiting

Works like a charm ! Thanks Victek!

Can you provide the syntax for this?
  18. Victek

    Victek Network Guru Member

Look into iptables -L, then you can find the syntax applied to the IP/MAC you want to limit, copy this rule to another cron process in schedule and you can combine different down/up speed using also the timer. I'm not sure what line will be respect in iptables, better check again using the same command to know if changes have been applied.

any news about a new release from Victek for its Transmission version ?
  21. molnart

    molnart Networkin' Nut Member

if you want tomato with transmission i recommend you using the builds by shibby. they are based on victek's build anyway, actually the BT build from victek is a backport from shibby's build. i also think that vic wrote somewhere that he does not plan to update the bt build anymore

@victek: any changelog for the new builds?
  22. Victek

    Victek Network Guru Member

Yes, changelog are related to many bugs on BW limiter for MIPSR1 version, also a clean of nvram when Tomato RAF is build without Captive Portal has been done. I'm working in more changes, this release can be considered as transition, Tomato RAF is stable and only recommended if you use BW limiter intensive.
Yes, I don't plan to include BT in Tomato RAF since shibby20 is working with Tomato RAF as a base build for his builds, then, no need to duplicate it.
  23. luckman212

    luckman212 LI Guru Member

wow.. new feature IMQ is present in the 9004 build.
i couldn't find too much info on this, or how to configure it.
    I did notice: http://www.linuximq.net/
anyone know if this is going to be useful, for QoS?
  24. shibby20

    shibby20 Network Guru Member

    Heh new feature ;)

    simple expample:
enable imq and set numdevs to 2.

    add to firewall script:
    - imq0 and imq1 - 2 numdevs, (always count from 0).
    - testDL and testUL - labels
    - - user ip address.

reboot router and then look to realtime bandwidth. You should see teslDL and teslUL graphs ;)
In this way you can create "Clientmon" for max 8 users. (max 16 numdevs, 2 imq devices for each user). You have to only remember grow up numdevs and set todev the same as imq (imq3 -> todev 3).

    I hope its understandable ;)
  25. luckman212

    luckman212 LI Guru Member

yes that is understandable, wow that is definitely very cool and surely will be useful. :)
  26. JodelJoe

Hello Victek, do u maybe plan an update for this version?

Tomato RAF 1.28.121006. This version guarantees WAN-LAN 80Mb throughput. For WRT54G/GS/GL. Dated, February 20th, 2011

Because this version is very stable and fast at old WRT54GL.
If yes, is it maybe possible without many enhancement to enlarge the
value for firewall scripts which is actually 8192 bytes to at once 32768 bytes
for testing with much bigger scripts?
  27. Victek

    Victek Network Guru Member

Yes, this version will be replaced in few hours by another version ... 32768 bytes for scripts? ... omg....
  28. JodelJoe

    JodelJoe Networkin' Nut Member

    Yes :)
I may try a bit with my own iptables scripts, and the length of 8192 bytes is too
short if someone wants to try that. Here is an example, which is actually near
double lenght which i wanted to try.
But at my new script, i want the rules in a few new chains, and actually i have no
clue where i can build them in because of the short possible length..
  29. shibby20

    shibby20 Network Guru Member

simply save it on /jffs and add to firewall scripts

according to wikipedia that router uses a Broadcom BCM5357 CPU @ 300 MHz. However it has only 4MB of flash memory, so you cannot expect a lot of features on that rig. If Master is willing to risk enough, maybe Shibby's MIPS2 K26 Mini version could already work on that router.

    E4200 5GHz support?

I have been running Tomato RAF on my E3000 for a couple of months now and love it. I recently bought a new E4200 but have read that Tomato had not added 5GHz support for this model yet. I see that Victek's 5/29 releases include a specific version for the E4200, does this have 5GHz support? Or is it still 2.4GHz only? Thanks!

  38. Victek

    Victek Network Guru Member

Keyser.Soze, Tomato (any version) do not include E4200 5GHz yet, I know dd-wrt includes (unstable yet).

eangulus, thanks for the info, I tested (without doing a complete nvram erase) and was working correctly, I'm finishing a new build and your advice is on the check list before release, thanks again.

Scheduler for BW limit on K26-1.28.905xRAF-EN-MIPSR2-053-Std

Okay - I thought I'd try shibby's builds as they are also based on Victeks. I loaded version -053-Std on my RT-N12.

I have also put in Victek's suggestion for disabling BW limits via scheduler

but it didn't seem to work. When I disabled QoS BW Limiter, the download speed did not jump up. Do you have a different syntax for your build, shibby?

Could someting like this added to the gui?

It seems it does work on the latest DD-WRT builds according to the what they are reporting here.

One thing is, I use a lot of custom dnsmasq options, and I wonder if it's possible to have some option in the GUI to keep dnsmasq enabled but not enter in any default range or any other options. I want to basically start with a completely EMPTY dnsmasq.conf and make it completely custom with nothing else added in by Tomato.

  84. Moogle Stiltzkin

    Moogle Stiltzkin Networkin' Nut Member

Victek i think this is a bug in your release. Could you please take a look.

The thing is, my qnap is ext4 in raid5 with capacity of roughly 4tb + could this be why in the clienf cifs status it could not show anything was mounted ?

I'm assuming that the cifs mount worked because a log gzip was saved to my qnap NAS shared folder, and even windows cmd to the qnap confirmed unc is being used.

The only issue is that the cifs client page does not indicate that it successfully mounted :/

So the problem before was i forgot to reset the log since i changed the location. But the problem remains that cifs client page on your firmware does not update to show the correct mount status. But that is cosmetic, as i think the unc is mounted correctly.

Vic- were you asking this to me or to ginson? if it was me, what I wanted to do was have NO default DHCP range given out by dnsmasq, but just vendor-specific (MAC-based) ranged handed out for certain devices on the LAN. The GUI does not allow this, I have to fill in a default range -- that's why I wanted to go 100% custom with dnsmasq.conf

    RT-N16 crashing

I have been running V1.28.9001 on my RT-N16 since its release. Last Friday, the router began crashing and rebooting every 3 to 12 minutes. I initial thought it might be heat or power supply related. This went on for the majority of the day. Then, it stopped rebooting and has been stable again for the last three days.

Does this sound like someone was trying an attack some exploit? Is there anything else that could cause this behavior?

As an update to my missing routing page, I decided to reinstall 9006. I also cleared NVRAM. After successfully flashing, I noticed the routing page was working, however, this was before I was connected to the Internet. As soon as I connected the routing page failed to display. To confirm this I unplugged the Internet cable from the router and the page, once again, displayed correctly.

If it helps my connection is Russian dual access via L2TP. I also have an active 6in4 tunnel with HE. I did disable the ipv6 tunnel but it made no difference, the routing page would still not display.

As I said in an earlier post, all was working correctly in earlier versions of your builds.

Linksys has released firmware 1.0.02 on June 14. It is based on Linux K26 and has IPv6 support. Would this release contain what you're searching for?

    Hey Vic-
I just noticed a little glitch in the gui-
for some sections e.g. "Overview", "About" or "Device List" it reads "Tomato RAF" at the top
but for other sections e.g "Web Usage", "Logs" or "Real Time Bandwidth" it just reads "Tomato"
sure not a big deal but....... :)

Not a glitch, Tomato RAF appear when I modified/implemented code in these sections of the user GUI. Thanks for the question.

Victek is it possible to add multi ssid support in your mod/firmware. DD-WRT can run more than one SSID. A few years ago, i heard it is not possible to do something like that with tomato because of an old wireless driver. But what about now? is it possible now? Could something like this be implemented? A predefined second ssid, for example something like a "guest ssid" would be perfect.

Would be perfect..yes, I have been trying before (with old drivers) but the doubts I had was, do we implement a second dhcpd server? isolated net?
