:) Victek not wait to try your latest build 1.28.9007 E-4200 I installed the version released today by our friend Toastman but are unstable and too many bugs-4200

Please inform Toastman about problems you found, it will help all of us (in fact most of the code we use is public, so, shared). For sanity do a complete nvram erase and do not restore previous configuration you kept, then configure from scratch.

    Thanks

hi all, need some help regarding openvpn using victek latest 9006 build. everything is working fine, but using udp i cant set the option "connect-retry"? Why?? My client is sending a udp packet every 2 seconds. This traffic is unnecesarry. I know about the difference of tcp and udp.
    Code:
      if (options->connect_retry_defined && options->proto != PROTO_TCPv4_CLIENT)
        msg (M_USAGE, "--connect-retry doesn't make sense unless also used with --proto tcp-client");

Can someone tell me a work around? How can i set the time between eacht connection retry? In my opinion it makes sense for upd. THX for your answers

Done, E4200 home flashed and reconfigured. Testing for a week or two then I'll start updating the customers'.

    I love I can now use 2x 2.4ghz wireless (I don't care about 5ghz yet).

    First impressions:
    - Downloading seems a little faster. Better/faster kernel/drivers?
    - Blu-ray streaming seems faster. Boxee Box @~30ft/~10mt, 2.4ghz, 20mhz, channel 13.

Victek, what's the fastest way to enable the eth2 as wifi guest network?

Also I have a question, I have set up QoS and everything works fine, like limiting p2p and streaming software. The only problem I am having is when I do my speedtest with QOS off, i can get like 18-19mps, with QOS on, the maximum I can get its probably around 11,12, most of the time is 9, I tried it when I was the only computer connected, I have set my MAC address to highest class with 100% rate and 100% maximum outbound limit, I tried no limit as well, also 100% inbound limit and no limit on inbound...just can't solve it, any ideas? Thank you so much!

    Victek,

I am so happy to see firmware available from you with the Linksys E4200! I have been running stock version for about 6 months now with no issues. My hold up from flashing was no 5ghz being available. But, I see it is now! Few questions if you or anyone else could kindly answer. I have not used Tomato since selling my WRT54GL months ago with your firmware on it.

    1. Is flashing still the same? Restore factory defaults with stock firmware. Flash and then clear NVRAM with in the gui after it is done?

    2. Is the latest release still Beta firmware? If so. Any ETA when it becomes official?

    3. Do we lose CTF, the guest wireless network and media server function?

    4. Does the 5ghz channel support allow dual channels for 450mbps support like stock firmware?

    5. Any well known bugs? Is is pretty stable? Its very important my network is stable.

    6. Do you have a virtual gui for it? I would love to see the new settings and tinker around with it virtually before loading it.

    7. Are the signal power settings adjustable? I actually have no interest in adjusting them. But, want to make sure they are loaded at the stock firmware levels upon flashing the new firmware.

    CTF
The CTF (Cut-Through Forwarding) option improves the efficiency of packet forwarding between the local network and the Internet. To use the CTF option, keep the default, Enabled.

I'm testing Tomato RAF 1.28.9007 for E4200 and am seeing a problem where the unit keeps rebooting itself. Can someone see if they can reproduce it? All other settings are default.

    On the 2.4 wireless:
Change wireless mode to Access Point + WDS
On WDS, change to Link With... and enter MAC address
    Reboot unit.

The unit will then keep rebooting until the configuration is reset via the switch. I can see all the link lights on the ethernet ports flash in unison.

Also, if I configure everything without ever rebooting the unit, the Access Point + WDS doesn't work. My other units are WRT54GS running Tomato USB (tomato-ND-1.28.8754-vpn3.6)

    Aaron Networkin' Nut Member

Same issue, but with two E3000 in WDS

The main unit goes into a boot loop, and the only way to fix it was a 30-30-30 reset. I was afraid I had bricked it.

The 2nd unit in WDS does not have this issue, and has been working just fine.

Right now I'm back to 9006 on my main E3000(the one connected to the internet) and 9007 on the one acting as a repeater(Access Point + WDS)

My E3000 only shows 5GHz as an option for eth2

I am new to tomato, I used to be able to renew my ip address by just cloning my pc's mac address to my router's, but in tomato i cant do the same, even if I clone/random my E4200'mac address, and reboot my cable modem and everything, the cable modem just wont assign a ip address to the router, any idea? Thanks

I have the advantage of having two E4200 routers to test. I have this build running right now and cannot find any problems to report. This build has slightly better wireless throughput than Victek's 9007, but Toastman's 0486 build has somewhat better yet. And while it may not make sense, the Shibby and Victek builds seem better on the WAN to LAN wired switch to my engineering workstation.

I have tested DDNS, Port Forwarding, running clients on both radios w/WPA2 Personal AES, ....I have maintained patience while you guys worked through this, but Tomato is so much better that stock. DD-WRT took a stab at the E4200, but to date has not come close to what has been accomplished with Tomato.....brilliant work....thanks

Right down to it nothing to report on E-4200 is the largest vers.1.28.9007
Victek questions, you can do something that is not flashing LED on the 4200?
It would be interesting to add as a feature in the web gui Setting wl_wmf_bss_enable= 1 will allow us Wireless Multicast Forwarding, which allows you to watch IPTV over Wi-Fi without UDPXY!
The network would then host the best ....
Anyway .. thanks for all the hard work you do ....

On my first attempt I didn't. I just flashed 9007 over 9006, and went into a boot loop right after the flash completed.

After that I had to do a 30-30-30 reset to get back up and running. Then I did a thorough NVRAM clear, redid all settings, and was working until I changed a setting in Basic>Network

Looks to be WDS related like Victek said. Both units are back to 9006, and WDS is back online

Installed 9007 over 9006 on my wrt610Nv2 converted to E3000.
I have need to do two nvram clear, because 5ghz doesn't appear on my iMac (possible that the first nvram doesn't erased all), and now on 9007 working very fine and fast.

Installed 1.28.9007 on my E4200. Working great. Personally have never had an issue with a Victek build. I do not use WDS, just the basics and dual band. Thanks for the great work Victek. Have always found that your builds of Tomato were always much better then any of the others. Not sure what you do different since you all compile from the same basic source but keep it up.
I know it is probably just because I like your builds better but things seem faster browsing the web. Had latest Toastman's E4200 support installed before which is also a good build.

    Hi

I am testing my E4200 with victek new release 9007 and router is going faster and more stable but i have a question.

I have a Linksys E4200 connected with an adsl router in bridge mode.
Ip address of router bridge mode is: 192.168.2.1
Ip address of E4200 es: 192.168.1.1

How can I access to the adsl router?

    Thanks.

  55. djroby19

    djroby19 Networkin' Nut Member

In Bridge you can not access the modem at least you do not have a Digicom cx combo at half-bridge with ppp-extetion activated, this function can only access the modem or the modem in the menu ... must have a function with the second IP service ....;)

  56. Toastman

Toastman Super Moderator Staff Member Member

To Access ADSL modem etc. from behind the router

Enter the following scripts into these sections of ADMIN/SCRIPTS page:

init: or wan up: ip addr add 192.168.2.13/24 dev $(nvram get wan_ifname) brd +
(you may need a "sleep 5" line first to give a delay)

    firewall: iptables -I POSTROUTING -t nat -o $(nvram get wan_ifname) -d 192.168.2.0/24 -j MASQUERADE

The first allocates an IP (192.168.2.13) and a different subnet to the appropriate vlan interface (port) for your router. Normally this port doesn't have an IP so we have to give it one, so that we can use it to add a route. There's nothing special about the .13 - choose what you want. Since we wish to access your modem, the subnet is chosen to be the same as that of the modem.

The second script sets a route for that subnet via that vlan interface (port) to the modem.

The scripts should discover the correct vlan for your router from NVRAM.

You can check your routing list in Advanced-Routing menu to see if the route is there.

Now you should be able to access your modem by typing its IP into the browser. Please note that not all modems seem to respond to this, though, even if they work just fine when connected directly to a PC.

    Hello,
I would report my problem with E4200 with last victek release 1.28.9007. I try to set the band 2.4 as Client-WDS or Wireless bridge to join to another E2000 with 1.28.9006 also victek. All working better without any issue but i see that the speed drop after a couple of minutes from 216/260 mbit to fixed 54mbit or less 19.5. I try to tuning the wireless advanced settings but nothing change this strang behaviour. The 5ghz band works very well with my mbp, the link is to maxium speed of 450Mbit.
Also I try to switch off my cordless dect on 2.4 band, and turn off some other equipment without luck.

    Thanks you.

I'm just trying all the different versions, and so far everything I have tried is working just fine on my E3000 and E4200. I am not seeing any of the weird problems some of the people here are complaining about. My E4200 which wasn't working before is now working well on 5GHz and I don't have to use that dreadful OEM software any more.

So kudos to everyone concerned and a big thank you.

I tried both with your build 1.28.9007 than with that of the same problem .. Shibby ..79v tutor also works because the blue button on the gui tells me when I disabled and enabled push for 2 seconds to 2 seconds when it repels. . but no effect on the wifi, there's probably a problem under cron ... you know the formula through scripts to see if this works?
Victek Thanks for the work you do for us

Just to let you know. I did a thorough "Erase all data in NVRAM" one more time on my E3000 and started all over and now the the schedule to disable wireless between 01.00 and 07.00 works perfectly. I guess its a good idea to run the erase AFTER upgrading and not just when upgrading. Anyway, thanks for the great work on the 1.28.9007 release.
    Cheers :)

I got my serial cable ready, I have my Linksys E1000 v2.1 router(s) ready... Shibby has been assisting with creating a build of Tomato firmware for the E1000 v2.1 Linksys routers but at this point is unable to continue. Anyone else able to help out please and/or support the E1000 v2.1 routers?

I know Toastman's (teddy's) USB tomato firmware have implemented the Linksys E1000 v1 routers. Please head over to this thread for further information about the v2.1 router -> http://www.linksysinfo.org/index.ph...mware-for-linksys-e1000-v2-1-will-help.35630/

djroby19, I've told you once before, you have to relax and wait, this is not an Italian forum. People have lives, work, other things to do other than entertain kids that want to play with routers and firmwares.

I don't think this guy will take the hint. Everything he touches he screws up, and then posts complaints and requests for people to fix his problems multiple times on every thread on two websites. And he wonders why he doesn't get any replies?

djroby19, my last ot, nobody cares what you do and how old you are, stop acting like a kid.

    Acting like a kid:
    - Test new firmwares for two days and decide that something doesn't work properly, even though the feature has been tested for weeks. This behavior confuses the modder/developer.
    - Post and ask for answers repetitively, like Italians act on Italian forums (wonder why no one likes us on internet communities?).
    - Stay behind and reply to people's questions too early just because you think you know/have deeply tested something (I just did this to you but that was an exception).
    - Keep going OT like I'm doing right now (PM if you have problems).

I believe it's time for a moderator to step in here.

DJroby, nobody is here to be your your personal valet. You have made 83 posts and few of them make any sense, most of them are repeated nagging in an attempt to force a reply. You reply to other people's questions with incorrect and misleading information. Enough is enough. Sensible and polite questions, posted once and waiting for a reply, are fine. If you do not get a reply, just accept that nobody wants to answer your question, and just leave it.

    Hi,

I installed tomato-E4200USB-NVRAM60K-1.28.9007MIPSR2_RAF-VPN-NOCAT.bin and some other firmwares on my brand new E4200. It first seemed to work flawlessly, but when I connect two laptops over Wireless N, 2.4 GHZ the router crashes (reboots) regulary! I even managed to get the device to crash only by changing some Access Point Parameters and continue clicking in the GUI! So installed some other similar firmwares:

    tomato-E4200-NVRAM60K-1.28.0407.1MIPSR2-Toastman-VLAN-RT-Std.bin
    tomato-E4200-NVRAM60K-1.28.7471MIPSR2-Toastman-RT-Std.bin

    ... same problems ...

Now I installed the stock firmware again to see if it is also crashing.

    --> No

Thus, a hardware failure seems not to be the reason...

Whar can I do to run tomato? I need the router tomrrow as a firewall...

Are there any configuration parameters that I may tweak to get the stuff working?

    every advice is greatly appreciated!

Harry, not sure why you are posting about Toastman builds in Victek's thread. Might want to post you question/issue in Toastman Releases thread. I am currently running Victek's 9007 on my E4200 without any issues. --bill

    Hi Bill,

the first build that I installed over the original firmware was tomato-E4200USB-NVRAM60K-1.28.9007MIPSR2_RAF-VPN-NOCAT.bin from Victek which didn't work (see my first post). I mentioned the results of the installation of the Toastman builds to indicate that the problem occurs on other builds to and is not Victek specific. Maybe a problem with the kernel? No one experienced similar problems?

    br

    Harry
