New WRT54G with ports open?

Just got a WRT54G (v2.0 I think) which seems to work fine, and I upped the firmware to Linksys official v3.03.6. I then ran eDonkey expecting it not to work as I hadn't yet opened the necessary ports, and found to my surprise that it did work. The ports I use (TCP: 6547, UDP: 7492) weren't being blocked at all by default. Is this normal? I had a Netgear before and had to open them up manually.

Don't know if your eDonkey client supports UPNP and if it is activated in your router but that would explain the open ports.

Thanks! Upnp... you learn something new everyday. I think I'll keep it disabled. User friendly but anything that lets progs open their own ports is asking for trouble IMHO.
