    Hi all,
How can I definitely know which is my WRT54GS hardware version :?:

Is the version based on the s/n ?

That's a little misleading. I have a v1.0 WRT54GS and it shows up as a v2.0 in the sysinfo.htm. The only way I know of to determine a WRT54GS is by serial number. If starts with CGN1 it's a 1.0 and if it starts with a CGN2 it's a 1.1. There is no 2.0 yes AFAIK.

Also if the box has a "SecureEZSetup" label then it is a v1.1 according to the Linksys sales team

This should help determine the version number by serial (sticker on retail box too)

Many thanks for all your answers folks.

If I query this page I get:
    Hardware Version:2.0
    Means v2.0

and on the sticker at the bottom it is written WRT54GV2 (it is strange because it is not written WRT54GS but WRT54G)
    Means v2.0

    Mine is CGN10D8.....
    Means v1.0

    Means v1.0

Not found, but since it is a french box retail maybee it is different.
    :arrow: Means all but v1.1 (=> v1.0 or v2.0)

So, if there is no existing v2, that means that I have a v1.0. Right ?

It seams that you are in the same case as I am. Did you try to install Satori fw ?

If the firmware upgrade fails due to an hardware version not supported (since Satory seams to be not compatible with v1.1 and more if it may exists), what may happen ? Will I be able to move to Linksys (or other) fw back ?

The WRT54GS does say something like WRT54Gv2 in the FCC ID on the bottom. By your serial number it is without a doubt a v1.0. I have the same router (US version) and have the Sveasoft firmware running without a problem.

Your welcome for the more complete serial list :? Others may read the post and it makes sense to offer it all not what you think one person would need.

He only asked for the WRT54GS versions... You might have confused him by providing more information than what he asked for.

Yes I was a bit confused with contradictory information from the sticker in the bottom of the page, from sysinfo.htm page answer, from the S/N...

Maybee a moderator can set this post as post-it or create a new post more generic (for both WRT54G and GS) and set it as post-it in the top of the page for neewbie like I am.

Anyway, many thanks to all for your clear answers. [IMG]

    Getting more confused also.

I have a brand new WRT54GS with serial # CGN20XXxxxxx I was thinking of returning, thinking it was the older model. On the underside of the router is a sticker that says "WRT54GS v1.1". However by the serial number, it sounds like it is a version 2.0.

So... which do I really have?

Edit: I'm assuming there is a 2.0 since if you go to the LinkSys website to download firmware, there are 3 options for downloads for the WRT54GS... 1.0, 1.1 and 2.0. If there is no 2.0, why is there firmware for it?

It is awesome piece of information but does not include anything about the GS V2....

It looks like V2 has not been released yet!! Avenger20 says here on this forum,
""I know the SysInfo page says that, but it's wrong (It says the same for my WRT54GS v1.0)

The WRT54GS v2.0 will have a push button on the front, and maybe some extra leds.""

You can check the whole thread here,

    Cheers
