    @all,

    Guys, I've had my WRT54G for some time now and never paid my attention to it. Lately I searched for alternative firmware for it and came across Hyperwrt. I must commend Avenger20 for this wonderful power boost firmware. I installed 2.0b3 and everything seems to be running fine.

    if you could help me with some minor newbie questions I'd be grateful.

    1. First of all, is there any way we can have the telnet always active and add a username/password authorization to it so it won't be wide open all the time ?

    2. I did a telnet to my WRT54G and (i never cared for web interfaces .. must be why my old pc still runs on Slackware v4 :)) setup the iptables just as I wanted it for my lan. (I have a lan like this : ISP -> Speedtouch 530i -> Linksys WRT54G -> 2 desktops and 2 wireless laptops.) But on the next morning I found out that during a power outage my rules were gone, and I had to type them all over again. Typing quite a few iptables -t nat -A PREROUTING -p tcp --dport xxxx --to-destination ip is not what I had in mind for a great start of my day :( Is there any way to save my config so I won't lose it every other reboot? Should I put all the rules in the startup script ? I didn't see any init.rd during my telnet session.

    3. Also I noticed that qos is implemented through iptables. Could somebody point out where the port forwarding is implemented?

    that's all i can think of now... I'm looking forward to being an active member of the community ... waiting your replies ;)
