Hello there. (sorry about 'access' spelling in thread title!)
I have just reformatted my desktop PC and reinstalled XP and for some reason I cannot access the internet. If I connect my Laptop to the Router via Ethernet it connects fine. I thought that Ethernet configured automatically?

When I plug the ethernet cable into the ethernet port on my Desktop the little yellow light comes on.

I don't think the Ethernet connection is even showing up under 'Network Connections', there's just 2 1394 (firewire I presume) showing.

Do I have to activate the Ethernet connection or anything?

My motherboard is an ASUS A7N8X-X for your info.

Can anyone help me get it going again?

    Thanks for any help!

Install the driver for the LAN from the mobo driver disk or better still download the most recent version from the mobo site and install that.
