No voip with Thibor 15c...

Because my voip-adapter, a Linksys rt31p2, freezes one or two times a day I am about to put it behind my Linksys WRT54G v2.2 because of its better router/firewall functions. I have disabled dhcp and nat in the rt31p2 and sat it up with static ip + opened DMZ for it in WRT54G.
This setting is working fine with dd-wrt 23sp1 in the WRT54G, but as soon I flashes it with Thibor 15c (or even Tomato) and put in the same settings as I had with dd-wrt I have no voip anymore. Anything I have forgotton?

Perhaps the default IP range has changed?

Thanks for replying, but in both dd-wrt and Thibor I set the local ip-adress to 192.168.15.1 on the router and 192.168.15.2 on the voice adapter, so it should be the same...

By default whatever firmware you are using will allow outgoing traffic, the only thing that i can think of is possible the voip provider is having issues with the ports that it can use getting back to you. Did you previously set any kind of port forwarding? I myself use vonage and it just works no matter where i put it in the network. If you have internet access I dont see why your voip adapter should not work as well.

Yes, I noticed this the first time I flashed to dd-wrt. After a reboot the voip adapter would not accept any incomming calls.I had to make a call out to activate the adapter, then everything was fine. I just put the voip adapter in DMZ from the router to fix this. The voip adapter still stands in DMZ with Thibor firmware, but now there is just silence on the phone...And internet is working fine, yes.

Have you verified the voip adapter actually has ip connectivity? Just as you have noted, the adapter itself needs to see the network and register with the voip providers network so the voip provider knows where to send incomming calls. Do you have the ability to log in to the voip adapter to check to make sure it have internet access?

I have set up remote access, so I can connect via 192.168.15.2:8080.
Under voice-line 1 it says: Registration Status: 2xxxxxx4 Can't connect to login server
Is there any other way I can check connection?

Does your adapter have a diagnostic page where it allows you to ping out, also can you ping the wan side interface of the voip adapter to see if it responds? Well that last question may be a mute point if infact the adapters address is 15.2 and thats how you are connecting to it. I suppose one other thing could be the problem, is the adapter address the same as it was since the last time it worked?

check out the Vonage VOIP Review - Part II - RT31P2 i wrote some time ago. it give two ways of connecting the WRT54G and RT31P2. the second example is the one you want.

afaik i never changed much on the RT31P2 I enabled Remote Administration on the WAN, made sure the RT31P2 had a Static IP address including DNS settings and Gateway settings.

Anyway have a look at the review it should give you an insight to what you need.

This is actually the guide I have followed, and my settings are almost identical exept from that I have to open for DMZ to the voice adapter. These settings are working fine with dd-wrt, but not with Thibor. Strange?

It seems that I'm the only one with this problem, so I reverted back to dd-wrt 23sp1 again. I put in the same settings as I had in Thibor, and the phone works immidiately. There must be some default settings in these firmwares that are different so the phone doesn't work with Thibor? I'd really wanted to use Thibor, I can see many people are happy with this firmware.

Mine works good - Sunrocket Gizmo (innomedia device) with Thibor...only problem I'm having is not upstream but getting quality donwstream as once in a while my incoming calls are garbled - but the caller hears my voice just fine?

Did you try resetting your adapter? Release Renew?
wer cycle everything? I know mine (if I screw with it) will mess up and I have to power it on first...then cycle the power on my WRT to get the VoIP back as active.
