    Hello,

new slug user here. I was just wondering what the maximum password length and allowed characters are for the unit? I could not find this information documented anywhere?

Also is there a limit to the size of the password that windows (XP) will remember when you map a drive?

    Thanks!

The operating system used by the NLSU is Unix based. Most Unix systems have a limit of 8 characters for the password. Some versions only check the first 8 characters entered. But the best way to find out is just try it, I guess.

I've been using a 14 character password without problems. I've never checked to see if only the first 8 are being used though.

Just gave it a try. You can enter a 15 character password through the web interface. All these characters are checked on login. Additional characters typed at a login prompt are just ignored. Should be good enough for a strong password.

Thanks for the tips, especially when allowing Internet access to the slug I want as strong a password as I can allow.
