For whatever reason when NVRAM COMMIT is used following commands in the command line, it is not saving the settings so they will survive a reboot.

I've checked in the GUI and the option to override the NVRAM COMMIT isn't selected so it should be saving, same as default settings right now.

    example:
    wl ssid reallyconfused
    nvram commit
(at this point my SSID is "reallyconfused")
    reboot
(now my SSID is magically back to "wireless")

This is true with any setting that I try in the command line accept for the option to set the WEP (this works?)

    wl down
    nvram set wl0_wep=enabled
    nvram set wl0_key=1
    nvram set wl0_key1=26digithexkey
    wl up
    nvram commit
(at this point still shows as unsecured)
    reboot
(now it is secured and all is well)

    Any guesses?

I guess you are not setting the same variable as used by the core system/ web config. Try changing the value from the web gui to something_unique then seach the nvram with

    nvram show |grep something_unique

    Figured it out...

I'm not sure if anyone else is trying something like this or not, but this is what I came up with

    SSID command
    nvram set wl0_ssid=<name>
    nvram commit
    reboot

    WEP
    wl down
    nvram set wl0_wep=enabled
    nvram set wl0_key=1
    nvram set wl0_key1=<26 hex digits>
    wl up
    nvram commit
    reboot

    Admin Password
nvram set http_passwd=<password works best for me>:rolleyes:
    nvram commit
    reboot

I'm still working on the MAC filter stuff and will post when I get it. MsTombs thanks for the reply. I actually ran across this by looking at nvram show and going line by line until I ran across the lines I was looking for.

I post these lines for the next idiot trying this, hopefully it won't be the same struggle for you as it was me!

It make sense that any stored config is somewhere in the nvram variables, but some are dependent on others and are reset on reboot as you find. "grep" is a useful tool here!

I can confirm the "nvram commit" at the GUI is not working
at v1.08 to v1010 compare with v1.07 that works fine.......!

I hope Jon can fix it shortly.
    Thanks for the great firmware!!

I think you have a different issue to above which is that for GL and similar the nvram vlan0 is redefined every boot. What exactly doesn't work?

the "nvram commit" GUI or function is broken at v1.10.
At v1.07, after "nvram commit" is press, it will have a 5 sec.
count down page & the setting is saved. But with v1.10, no count down
page & IE status bar say error!

Thanks for reply, I am not the only one
have this problem. A few question...

Do you using the old config file after flash or flash without
    reset?

Can you try using IE7 to test (if you have IE7)

I only have IE7, Desktop is Vista Prem. Notebook is XP Pro.
Both not work.... Maybe an IE7 issue.........

    Thanks.....

I had 1.07, but I played around with Thibor for about a week. So, when I upgraded to 1.10 I did all the full resets, etc.
So anyway, I tried it with IE7 and it does not work. I get an "Error on Page" message.
