Only official firmware working

Pretty strange stuff here. I just got my WRT54G v2.2 in, set it up and everything worked excellent. Got my PPTP connection without any hassle. But, as i wanted to use more functions, i installed the DD-WRT prefinal2 (latest version) onto the router. It installed fine, but as soon as i wanted to connect my pptp connection the router seems to panic (blink power light) and the error 'Cannot connect PPTP' pops up. This seems to happen with all the 3rd party firmware. Only with the official Linksys it seems to work fine. I have tried setting the 3rd party firmware time and time again, but it keeps failing to connect PPTP.

My ISP is xs4all, The Netherlands. They have a pretty open policy for pptp'ing and i never had any trouble connecting to the isp, only with firmware like DD-WRT, Sveasoft, HyperWRT etc. it just doesn't work.

    Any tips?

you are resetting the router after the firmware upgrade yes?

    pressing reset for 30 seconds?

Hyperwrt should work it is based on the latest official firmware

Yep, done that. My main idea on upgrading to a 3rd party is to get that DHCPD thing getting. I don't want my server/printer to lose it's assigned ip as this will mess up my lan/wan settings. The only firmware i found so far that has this option seems to be the DD-WRT (the fork of that sveasoft project). While the DD-WRT firmware runs fine on my v2.2 and does everything i want, it just will not connect to the PPTP, the router seems to reject the command or something, very strange.

I'm not sure if the hyperwrt could connect to the pptp, as i quickly noticed it didn't have the mac-ip dhcp function.
