OpenVPN on WRT-54-TM

My parents are based in Egypt, and for the last 3 years, were quite happily using a VoIP service with a UK number (www.voiptalk.org) that allowed us to stay in touch quite conveniently and cheaply. A few days ago, their ATA registered to the VoIP service stopped working. Waht limited debugging I could do has led me to conclude that the country has started blocking VoIP - not entirely improbably given the political climate there at the moment. In any case, its not fully blocked, cos Skype works, as does CallWithUs (though I wasn't able to get outgoing calls to work).

They have a Linksys E4200 router (that we can't ascertain to be v1 or v2) and a spare WRT-54TM router with DD-WRT that I replaced about 6 months ago with the E4200 when I visited them last.

With VoIP possibily being blocked, I've strated looking at a VPN solution, and came across http://www.flashrouters.com/routers/vpn-types/ivpn/linksys-e4200-dd-wrt-flashrouter-ivpn, where they talk of a dual-router set-up, the primary router connected to the ISP via modem, and the secondary router has VPN installed to which devices requiring VPN access get connected.

The problem is I'm not in Egypt, and I would have to do most of the config via remote desktop, with some of the 30/30/30 resets and other steps beind done by my father in cairo, the bigger problem is, most of this VPN stuff is alien to me :)

Was wondering if some one could point me to:

    1) Best all inclusive Tomato (i certainly do prefer if over DD-WRT) firmware with VPN client baked in that can be installed on a WRT-54G-TM. Don't really want to try to install packages etc
    2) Is there a guide out there that can take me through the steps of doing this dual router set-up?.
    3) Any other tips would be highly appreciated.

    thanks.
