the Cisco logo on my WRT54G router is glowing orange? what does that mean.
It's radioactive. Actually, I don't really know. The new WRT54G's (version 3 I think?) have an extra button there that is as yet unused AFAIK. Maybe someone else knows. I'd be interested to find out if it's an added feature or simply eye-candy
I am not sure if the light is supposed to be always on but the button in question is for the new "SecureEasySetup" from Linksys. It also means you have one of the latest hardware versions. No 3rd party firmware uses this yet AFAIK. Enjoy the light show, others are doing mods to add the light.
My light went on after I flashed with the beta firmware that supposedly fixes a connection problem. Somebody mentioned that if you turn wireless off, the light goes off too.
i would be interseted in moding my WRT54G for different colors on the front panal do you have a guide disman_ca or a link were this could be done
Sorry I have no guide nor a link. Just seen people posting that they have added lights. Should be a simple as soldiering it to the main power points similar to the fan mods. There wouldn't be any controling them though just on.
cool. looks like ti could use the power supply fomr my fan to do this. i will give a update on how this goes when i finish or if i do it.
Yes with the latest firmware, the light does come on in v3 routers. It will be orange if Wireless Security is disabled, and white if enabled, hold it, and it automatically sets up wireless security for you (white light will blink)
