First I would like to say after loading the latest hyperwrt firmware I was absolutely amazed by how far it has come sence the early days of the the very fine avengers release. I am sure that many of us cant say thank u enuff times. Thank u very much Thibor for your work on the GS series it was looking kinda grim for us hyperwrt GS fans for awhile and we know it takes alot of time out of your other life. Is there any plans in the future to add/expand on the still very limited ddns support? I think its about the only thing left in the firmware that is still a virgin lol. I am sure many of us including I are hosting servers on dynamic Ipz. I for one own my own domain name and my registar has a complete crap control pannel, but its cheap and reliable. What I do use is a very popular and great service by the people at Zoneedit.com and it allows me to forward my dns there and use there very unlimited control pannel aswell as unlimited subdomains and is found in such firmware as dd-wrt. It would sure be nice to see this in a future hyperwrt release aswell as some other popular ones.
I have DNS2Go, I could say a lot about them, but for now, I would just dream of replacing their client and control panel with router service. Funny, my Dyndns account is much more reliable since it gets ino from GL.
Zoneedit shouldn't be a problem, and adding the capability for more hosts is also do-able. i'll check about Dns2go. what are the most popular dyndns hosts?
Carl, Is it possible to have several DDNS instead of one? I mean checkboxes rather than list box. Not sure how hard/easy t is to implement, but that would be great feature.
zoneedit has now been added, i'll add more as i go along. conversely; if anybody else wants to add more ddns services, i can happily send ONLY the files that have to be altered for modification.
i need one volunteer for each of the following DDNS service providers as i don't use them: 1. Zoneedit 2. EZ-IP 3. EasyDNS if you shout out, i will email you firmware with these incorpoated, perhaps they will work
Hi, If it is possible... could you add DDNS update for everyDNS.net ? You can find a client (with source code) at http://www.css-auth.com/Tiny-eDNS/ sorry, but my english isn't good. Thanks in advance. BrainSop
Where can I find it? I searched around this site but was only able to find 13d. Can you post the link or email it to me? Thanks. PS - Never mind. I just found it on your site....
EasyDNS works. Nice. You rock. Question: What are the "MX" and "Wildcard" checkboxes supposed to do? I assumed they're for updating MX records and other sub domain names but when I checked them and saved the settings, they just went back to being unchecked and my MX and other sub domains didn't change. Fresh
Should have an option for allowing custom update server along side the predefined services like dyndns and tzo etc. Lots of folks are running there own DNS services these days especially DVR companies and goverment offices. There are products like MintDNS, DDNSServ which are NIC v2.0 compliant server applications. It would be nice for these folks to be able to use there routers with there own services.. address.net is a site that is running MintDNS should you like to test a service. Should except the standard DynDNS.org update format server to connect to should be configurable..
I will be changing the DDNS content when i do 14a or 15, it will have to wait though as i am working on the SL54GS port at the moment. I may be able to change the ddns setup to allow server definitions to accept ANY dns service ie, fill in ddns server address, port, username, password, wildcard, mx, and any other fields i can think of; possibly more than 1 domain at a time too.
