Someone please help me. I readily admit i am a novice computer user and the Linksys helpline has been utterly, utterly useless.

I have a Linksys Broadband router with 2 phone ports (RT31P2-VD) and a Linksys Wireless-G broadband router (WRT54G). I want to set these up to work on the same computer (a Dell Dimension 4600C desktop). I need them both because i want wireless (for the other computer in my house, a Dell Inspiron 600m laptop) and the wireless router doesn't have any phone ports, but i need the phone ports because i have my telephone through my Dimension with Vonage.

If anyone could please help it would be so appreciated. I am having abolutely no luck here.

    Thanks

    Hi!

One of these routers will have to lose "router functionality". What I would suggest is that the WRT-54G is the one to set up this way and you keep the RT31P2 as the network's Internet edge.

Configure the WRT-54G with a static IP address in your network's subnet (preferably up high in the subnet's address range and out of the DHCP scope) and make sure that DHCP server and UPnP functionality are turned off. Then connect an Ethernet cable from a LAN socket on the RT31P2 to a LAN socket on the WRT-54G.

As well, I would look at configuring your Vonage service so that the RT31P2 is part of your Vonage telephony service -- it is an analog telephone adaptor as well as a router. You don't need to run the Vonage telephone via the Dimension unless you see the softphone program working as a virtual extension for your Vonage VoIP service.

Hope I can help you with this,

    With regards,

Also go to advance routing on your WRT54G and set is as a router and not a gateway. The WRT54G will be functioning as a access point in this case and your RT31P2 is the gateway to the Internet.
