Please help! Using Linksys WRT54GL as Wireless Bridge

Hi everyone, I recently was turned on to the magic of Tomato on compatible Linksys routers. Refusing to pay for a wireless adapter for my Xbox, I decided an extra router in Wireless Bridged mode would serve the dual role of helping my Xbox connect and my laptops when I am closer to that specific router than the main one.

I hooked everything up yesterday and was playing on Xbox live no problem. My girlfriend uses her laptop to work from home however, and I enabled WEP to provide at least some (I know WPA would probably be better) security. This has seemingly thrown a wrench in the wireless bridge functioning with the xbox . So I've come to ask for help!

    1. Which settings in Tomato 1.25 should i use on the bridge to ensure its only function is to repeat the signal from the original router.

    2. How can I do this while leaving WEP on.

    3. How can I access this wireless bridge router (without resetting and going ethernet cable only), as 192.168.1.1 goes to my main router hooked up to the modem.

Thanks in advance for any help, and I'll be checking back often to provide additional details on request

    For everybody, yes. :)
For him, he choosed already ''I enabled WEP to provide at least some (I know WPA would probably be better) security.''
NOTE: But if you finally decide otherwise, don't use WPA2 on WDS as for me didn't work.

Any one know why WPA 2 cannot be used in bridged mode with Tomato?

I followed the WDS guide...and am still having some problems.

Am i incorrect in trying to get to the second router by 192.168.1.2? Thats what i assign it to according to the guide.

ok, so i disabled security just to get it out of the picture, and followed the WDS by telling each router to link with each others Wireless MAC.

Now if im closer to the second router, I can't connect to the internet. If i get closer to the 1st router or unplug the second it connects fine. Everytime i try to re-enter the settings for the second router i need to reset to defaults and disable wireless on my laptop.

Is there a way i can check and see if the second router shows up as connected to the first, (client list)?

Yes, it should show up in the client list prefaced with wds. In both machines, don't you see a connection? Check you are using the right MAC addresses.
