Hello guys, I didnt want to have to post, because Im frequent with forums and I know how the noob posts can get a bit old. Well I did several searches and found one post that was similar to my problem, but the solution did not fix my problem.

Ok, I just picked up a WRT54G v5 router, and also a new laptop (havent even opened yet because I want to be sure this connection will work). I put in the setup disc, went through the steps, and I have a DHCP connection, and I click next and it says something like "Router cannot connect to internet, please turn modem off and back on and try again", doing that does nothing. I have no clue what to do from here, I have went to the setup page, but I dont know what settings to change to make this work. Also, I have a Westell ADSL modem if it makes any difference. I have never used a wireless router before, always have had one computer and just directly connected to my DSL. Im a little frustrated at this point because I had previously bought a netgear router and had many many problems with it and so I returned it, I was thinking going with a Linksys would be a good choice, but so far it has proved me wrong...

EDIT: I am also running on Windows XP Pro

Don't use the setup disk. Connect to the router via a cable and configure your settings via the web interface.

Also power off both your modem and router first. Then turn on the modem, then the router. Then configure settings.

Ok, I put in all of the configuration settings, and even called my ISP to make sure I had everything right and it still will not work. And my good ole ISP pretty much told me they couldnt help me anymore

Any idea whats up, Ive tried so many things tonight and have come up with nothing... Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated!
