    The weirdest thing always happens when use torrents for a while. When ever I download a bunch of torrents or big file, my internet disconnects BUT! It only disconnects from a few sites. Like I downloaded 3 huge, and now I can't access Howardstern.com (love his radio program) or Myspace.com. The message I receive is "The connection has timed out". This crap always happens and I do not know how to reconnect it, because I can access the internet AND still download torrents at fast speeds but some sites I can't access. Sometimes I fix it by doing a system rollback. I can access Howardstern.com by using an anonymous search engine (ie vtunnel.com) but bad thing about that is I cant click the links. This always happens to me and some times it fixes itself but its been 8 days and there are a few sites that time out and im almost 100% positive there are people on here with the same problem. Oh yeah im using a Linksys WRT54G

    can anyone give me the solution to fixing the timed out internet connection? Ive heard that its like the router is clogged with old connection memory. I dunno all i kno is i kneed help and no one seems to have the answer to a "timed out" connection. now when i got to certain sites i have to refresh the page 3 times just to access it and when I unplug my router and just directly connect to my modem, my internet seems to work fine with no problems. PLEASE HELP!!!!!

    The problem is related to an overflow of connections.
    What you can do about is, load a third party firmware.

    The Tarifa firmware can handle more connections, and has a bigger and more efficient nat-table. Standard connections are 5 days kept open on the WRT54G router, this can be lowered in addition by using a script.

    On default the Tarifa firmware can handle more connections, but sometimes this isn't even enough.

    For this a script is made, this script tunes the router for P2P use, this at cost of memory usage.
    Thus the only thing you can do in addition is load the script.
    In the user manual description about this is included.

    No, it is in the user manual:

    #!/bin/sh
    echo 4096 > /proc/sys/net/ipv4/ip_conntrack_max
    echo 1 > /proc/sys/net/ipv4/icmp_echo_ignore_broadcasts
    echo 1 > /proc/sys/net/ipv4/icmp_ignore_bogus_error_responses
    echo 512 > /proc/sys/net/ipv4/neigh/default/gc_thresh1
    echo 2048 > /proc/sys/net/ipv4/neigh/default/gc_thresh2
    echo 4096 > /proc/sys/net/ipv4/neigh/default/gc_thresh3
    echo "600 1800 120 60 120 120 10 60 30 120" > /proc/sys/net/ipv4/ip_conntrack_tcp_timeouts

    But in your case you could better use this:

    #!/bin/sh
    echo "600 1800 120 60 120 120 10 60 30 120" > /proc/sys/net/ipv4/ip_conntrack_tcp_timeouts

    This only sets the 5 days connection back to 30 minutes.

    wow thanks man

    so i just put

    #!/bin/sh
    echo "600 1800 120 60 120 120 10 60 30 120" > /proc/sys/net/ipv4

    into the "static allowcation" and im home free?

    Yes, but it should be in the rc_startup field!

    #!/bin/sh
    echo "600 1800 120 60 120 120 10 60 30 120" > /proc/sys/net/ipv4/ip_conntrack_tcp_timeouts

    You need to tweak your TCPIP.SYS file using a tweak that I don't have a link to (sorry - search for it on the µTorrent forums), set your self up a Static IP, rather than a Dynamic IP (again it's all on the µTorrent forums) etc.

    I had the same problem, now it's cured...

    God!!! all this computer crap is making me insane.

    I added #!/bin/sh
    echo "600 1800 120 60 120 120 10 60 30 120" > /proc/sys/net/ipv4/ip_conntrack_tcp_timeouts

    in the start up file and i patched the TCPIP.SYS file using the EventID 4226 Patch (as recommended on utorrent) set my "current maximum Half-open connections" at 10. Now i can access the homepage of the website but BARELY. the images barely load up and i cant click the links. arrrgggh i just want to get rid of my router and just connect to my modem but i cant because I have another computer hooked up on wireless, and xbox360 running. Routers are lame.

    The best thing is to load a original tcpip.sys back again. This patch will make it only worse.

    The problem you have were too many connections, this 'patch' does nothing more then open more connections.
