Hey everyone, I have a question about miniupnpd, port fowarding, and torrenting. I was looking to rid myself of some unnecessary port forwards set up for torrents. I currently have Victek's lastest ND build that has miniupnpd enabled. Does anyone know if I still need to port forward these ports since the miniupnpd deamon and utorrent's UPNP capability are already taking care of my forwarding? I wasn't sure if it still need to be open for the tracker to communicate with my computer. I am at work now, so I can't try it, but would appreciate some feedback. Thanks!

In uTorrent, under preferences, you'll see a randomized port number (you can change it to whatever you want) that the program will attempt to send to UPnP or NAT-PMP to open on your router. Your router, which is now running miniUPnPd, is listening for that, and will open the port correctly and automagically.

In other words, no you no longer need to have your static port forwards open for uTorrent. After you launch uTorrent, just go into the UPnP section of the Tomato web GUI, and you'll see that port has been opened.
