    Wrv54g Users,

I have remote management setup on my router. When I access rm from another workstation outside my wrv54g router I'm always prompted for id/password, but when accessing from my pocket pc it goes directly into the configuration page.

Anyone exp. this or is this just something I've stumbled across.

    Pls advise.

    Cookies? I dunno...

Firefox sometimes doesn't require me to log back in if it's within a few minutes...

That is a good one! I have found a couple myself. The configuration dump stores your router configuration fine, but when you reload it, if you have changed your username and password, it will reinstall your username but not the password. The default "admin" for username, password, or both will not work after reinstalling. At least it did not on mine. Tried it 3 times because I couldn't believe it.

I ran into this bug in 2.37.1 as well. I believe that there is a problem with the way the Linksys firmware saves and/or restores special characters in your passwords. For example, if your password (and not just the admin password) has special characters like @, &, ! or punctuation marks, etc, the router firmware gets confused. I reported this problem to Linksys and they recommended using "non-special" characters in passwords. :?

I can certainly believe that special characters would pose a problem. However, my username and password consisted of only numbers. It is hard to get Linksys to confirm any bugs straight up. I suspect that the Help team never bothers to test your suspicions and simply restates the obvious when trying to help.
