Apparently this didn't help. Trying another small mod next.

    Hi Toastman!
    This Alas_Ka. I have already come here ... :)

I can add patches for control.c and wan.c on your firmware version 1.28.0407.1.
The results are as follows: patch for control.c allows you to work xl2tpd with sync framing by default.
Patch wan.c also need. Without these patches, the router sends an LCP ConfRej and there was no connection (only for ISP - Beeline Russia).
Now the router is responsible LCP ConfReq ACK, but is no connection. The situation is very interesting: in message.log I see that the router responds to requests from the ISP, and in the pcap log, I do not see these messages LCP ConfReq ACK on vlan2. I do not know where the next check. Routes checked - DHCP and static. It did not help.
As they write on the forums - these two patches is sufficient for ASUS-RT-N-16 when working with my ISP with firmware Tomato. Why is it not working on E4200, I do not understand.
Can anyone here recommend - like to see why I do not see any messages from the router PPP LCP? What to check?

    Hi Toastman!

I propose to change the question to collect data on L2TP on your new firmware.
    For example:
Tell us who use L2TP connection on the new firmware Toastman (from version 1.28.7485 and above)?
L2TP is working? What are the problems you noticed?

I have information from lly (team of enthusiasts), that xl2tpd bad working on the routers with new pppol2tp Kernel drivers.
