Is it possible to connect to some unprotected wireless network with Linksys WRT54GL (with DD-WRT firmware) and then wirelessly transmit the signal from the WRT54GL to some wifi enabled device ie notebook.

I have internet acces when running WRT54GL as client connected as shown on the picture below

What i want to do is this:

The problem is i don't have access to the ROUTER X so i can't set up WDS because i can't input the MAC of the WRT54GL in to the ROUTER X.

So is there some other way to do this?
I hope somebody will help. Thanks

Eh, why not just connect to router x with the wifi notebook and be done with it? In my neighborhood there are four wireless networks running besides mine, and I can connect to two with my computer, and all four with the wife's. ppl just don't secure their wireless :)

You could attach to all 4 of your 'open' waps and Bind them together for faster internet :)

VAP is kinda neat like that.

Though given the legality of this, I cannot tell you how to do it.
