    Hardware Being Used:

    - Apple PowerBook G4 1.5GHz (Latest Airport Drivers on OS X 10.4.3)
    - Compaq PC AMD 2.2GHz (Latest Linksys Wireless PCI Drivers on Win XP Pro SP2)
    - Motorola SB5120 Cable Modem
    - Linksys WRTP54G Wireless-G Broadband Router with 2 Phone Ports, 802.11g, b
    - Vonage Phone Service

Everything works great with this setup – Internet works well… network seems to be fine, but I do have a hang up I just cannot understand.

My PowerBook must not like this router – If I apply any type of wireless network security (WEP) either 64-bit or 128-bit my note book will come up saying that it is having problems joining the network – sometimes by using the airport connection wizard I could by pass the error.

If I disable the security – It works fine… what can be done about this?

I need to have access on my notebook, but I prefer that it is secure… I live in the city and there are four neighbors that also have networks…

I have a powerbook on my local network at home with the same router, im using WPA which is supported 10.3.x and later, try that encryption, its better anyway since both the computers can support it. Then again i've used this same setup with WEP and no problems, i'd say give WPA a shot

Did you try the WEP key (not passphrase) in the password field when your airport dialog box comes up to join the network? Does that work for you?
