PPPoE stability problem

My Internet PPPoE session has the habit of disconnecting if there are too many connections made by my Bittorent session. Usually happened when I downloads certain torrents with more than 3k-4k peers.

At first I thought the router (WRT54G v2.2 with tofu11x latest + the startup script) does so because its CPU can't handle many connections. But if that was the case, surely I will be disconnected from my router ( I connect to it wirelessly). Only the PPPoE will disconnect (and reconnect) when too many connection happens. Even if I don't saturate my downstream bandwidth.

The PPPoE sessions doesn't have problems if not too many connections are there (usually below 1k) even if I download at full speed. And I have tried using my modem in bridge mode as I wonder whether my modem or my ISP is the culprit, but the connection is stable even with up to 10k seeds/peers. Therefore, I deduce that something is wrong with the router's PPPoE feature to disconnect me when too many seeds/peers are in the BT torrents.

i don't think the pppoe at the wrt is your issue, it is far more likely to be down to your modem or possibly your isp that is causing it. i use pppoe and bittorrent quite heavily with many concurrent connections without disconnection issues. also you could make sure your adsl filters are all ok.

Same problems here, except PPPoE disconnections happen to me no matter what I am doing. Flashed the latest linksys firmware to my wrt (v3) to see if that solves it.

At first I do think my modem/ISP is the problem. But after 4-5 days of using Internet in bridge mode (using Windows XP built-in dialer), my ADSL connection is stable and I have never been disconnected (except when I reboot the computer once after the 3rd day) when doing exactly the same thing that disconnect me when using the router.

same problem here, I'm using tofu 11 and now 12. PppoE disconects like crazy no matter what I am downloading.
Isn't there a way to automatically reconnect ?!

    - Connect on demand doesn't work.... sometimes it reconnects, but sometime no matter what trafic I initiate, it does not reconnect.
    - Keep alive does not work, if the link failes, then it stays failed.

This is very bad because I cannot leave the computer unattended to download. I already tried four or five different firwares and every one has a stupid problem.
I am really thinking on giving up Linksys and building a linux computer as a router.
