practical advantages of wrt54gs?

    Hi all,

I'm looking at purchasing either a WRT54G or WRT54GS in the near future. I will definitely at some point be availing myself of the hacked firmware, probably sveasoft. Anyway, it's not really clear to me what the true advantage of the GS over the G version 2 is. With the hacked firmware, it looks like you can get the G series to work at the super 108 speed. That leaves the fact that the GS has more ram and flash. However, unless the hacked firmwares are running up against a memory or flash space limit, I could really care less. So are there any features that you can hack (or enable) in the GS that are impossible in the G? Does the extra memory make the router work faster, or does it bounce packets when it runs out of memory?

I've heard something about the next generation of Sveasoft firmware using the flash as a r/w "hard drive". I'm not really interested it that, though.

well with the new talisman using plugin module and a non volatile read-write area then more modules you add the more memory you would need.

I would if buying a new wrt go for the GS over the G model.
