i have dsl internet that is hooked up to a speedstream 5360 modem. i have two computers. i used to have a speedstream SS2602 router, it worked fine. both the computers are set up with a local area network that has an internet connection. i just got a laptop and bought a linksys router model: RVS4000 so that it can also be connected to the internet. i plugged the plugs in the right places, plugged the router in. turned everything on and none of my pd's can connect to the internet. they do sense each other and i am able to transfer files back and forth but that is all. what should i do to get this working?

    Also Newbie

I feel for you. I also am new at this and very frustrated. I have a speed touch Alcatel DSL modem and just bought the Linksys WRT54G modem to connect my laptop. Everything seems to be working and it says I have an excellent connection but I cannot get through to the internet via explorer. Does anyone have any idea what is wrong. I must tell you that the only thing I changed from the defaults was to put security in with the WEP.

Jorgie - After you switched on WEP in the WRT54G setup menu did you go back to the wireless pc/laptop and change the connection properties to include WEP and the WEP key/password that is now set on the router?
    .
Also, there is a 10 character WEP key and there is a 26 character WEP key. I recommend starting with the 10 character WEP key.( aka 5 character passphrase) Get that working first.
