My lan set up is as follows:
1.The lan ip for the router is
    2. The workstation ip is
3.my external IP is say 123.456.789.1
4.web servers (nginx) have been installed on both and listening to port 8080

    The following works fine:
1.When I set forwarding from 123.456.789.1:8080 to, I am able to access the website using the external IP ( which confirms that my ISP is not blocking 8080) and http serving works.
2.From within the lan, both the web servers(at port 8080) can be reached and works properly.

Would like to try and get the web server running on the router and the problem is that I am unable to access this using the external ip “http://123.456.789.1:8080/. The browser just says connecting....

What do I need to do (either via the gui or modifying the ip tables) to get external ip access to the web sever working?

Thanks for taking the time to look at this.

    The output for /etc/iptables
