i have a wireless g broadband router. i had it set up once before at my previous house, and i have recently moved. after trying to set it up here at my new house, it says that the network i made up at my old house is passphrase protected which i never did. so how do i erase that network and start from scratch, because right now im paying over 50 dollars a month for internet, and cant even use it. ill take any solutions, thank you very much!

The easy option would be to reset the router to the factory settings and reconfigure it for the setup you want.

You don't mention what router you have, but on the WRT54G (the only group that I'm familiar with), there is a small hole at the back which has a button inside this, you need to hold this down for 20-30 seconds and then power cycle the router to reset it.

well i tried resetting. i thought i had before but i guess i hadnt done it long enough. this time, it got rid of the old network that was on there. however this time, "linksys" showed up unprotected with all the bars as it should when it is new or reset, but only on one computer in the house, this one. this is my roomates computer, linksys barely shows up on mine. im not sure what the problem is. My router is the WRT54G v5. i am using a netgear wg111t adapter. im confused, and frustrated.

also, no computer is hooked directly to the modem or router by ethernet nor have they been. its just the modem and router at the cable outlet, and all computers are connecting through wireless (well, this one).
