I'm sharing my internet with my housemate. I always get very slow connection because he uses Bit torrent 24/7! He's only paying 30% of the bill but he almost sucked up all the speed. I'm going to find a solution that can limit his bandwidth. I heard there's a feature called QoS with WRT54G can do the tricks. So I bought one last week and ended up knowing that it is a V5. The standard linksys QoS couldn't work at all! After googling I realize that DD-WRT firmware is the only solution. I sold this piece of crap to my friend with half the price and bought another WRT54GS V4. After upgraded to DD-WRT, I immediately play with the QoS. WHAT'S THE DIFFERENCE? All I want to do is to limit his bandwidth to says 256kbps. I only can set the priority and his BT still sucked up my speed. So here's my question: I have a 1024/512 broadband and I want to limit my housemate's bandwidth to 256/128. I have his MAC address. Can the DD-WRT QoS do the trick? If it's not possible, can I block him from using BT software? (Only I can use Bit Torrent).
