I just got hooked up to high speed internet at my home yesterday. I am using a WRT54GS router.

I have a Mac iBook G4 laptop using OS X 10.4.8; my wife uses a Gateway desktop connected via an Ethernet cable.

Here is the problem. When I get on the internet with my Mac, (either by ethernet cable or wireless), the connection lasts from 30 seconds to a maximum of about 6 minutes. Then the connection is broken, and not just the connnection to my Mac, but also the cable connection to the Gateway (as long as I don't hook up with the Mac, the connection to the Gateway is fine).

When the connnection is broken, the green light under "WLAN" on the router turns off. If I unplug the router and plug it back in, I can get the connection again, but it is broken again within 6 minutes.

I would greatly appreciate any help anyone could offer to solve this problem. Thank you.
  2. I had a smilar problem with a PowerBook G4 causing a WRT54GL to freeze up. i solved the problem by turning off auto disconnect in "internet connect" - dont think it will sove your problem but worth a try

    same problem

I'm running into the same problem. 1 XP PC and 1 G4 PowerMac both wired to the router, one wireless XP machine, and one iBook G4. When the iBook connects to the network, the router goes down within 20 minutes every time.

    Any ideas....
