problem with 2 computers on router

I have set this up in a bridged configuration with my Westell modem connecting by DSL to Bellsouth.

It works perfectly with one computer connected by cable (wired). It also works perfectly with one computer connected wired and my notebook accessing wireless.

However, when I connect two computers in a wired connection, I have connection problems. When I connect the 2nd computer, both computers work for about 30 s and then I get a series of popups from the network system tray icon saying that "Local Area Connection, Network cable unplugged" then a message saying the connection is reconnected. This repeats several times. During this time, the DSL modem has disconnected as well. If I then disconnect the 2nd computer, all is well again with the first computer.

My main computer is running win2k and the notebook is winxp.

    Thanks

You need to connect a router with a DHCP server to your DSL modem. Are you trying to connect two computers to your DSL modem with a hub?
