Problem with WET mode in Thibor11

    Hello,

I have a WRT54GS 1.1 with Thibor11 running in WET mode with a peculiar bug.

I use it to connect my ReplayTV unit to my main router, a WRT54GS 3.0 also running Thibor 11.

I run G-only, channel 6, with WPA Personal and TKIP with a key lease of 3600 seconds. I use MAC filtering and static MAC addressing on the main router.

It works great whenever I reboot or restart the WET router, but whenever I leave the WET router running, within a day or so (but not consistently), the Replay is unable to connect to the internet. Rebooting (actually, power cycling) the WET router does the trick.

I've tried disabling MAC filtering and static MAC addressing, and it still has the problem. I briefly ran the unit without encryption and it seemed okay after 1 day but that is lightly tested and since the interval before failure is somewhat variable, I wouldn't count on that.

Whenever I connect the WET router to my main computer for debugging, it works beautifully, but I haven't ever used it for longer than a day or so.

Anybody report or find WET mode loss of connectivity, especially when running encryption?

I used to run sveasoft Talisman 1.0.5 in client-routed mode (STA mode in Thibor11) for months without a problem - but I needed to get a transparent bridge going to be able to access my Replay from my PC, and so I ended up with Thibor's firmware which has been fantastic except for this peculiar bug.

    Thanks!

EDIT: I experienced the same problem as far back as Thibor 191005 firmware.

i have run WET mode continuously now for months using WPA-psk(aes) without issue, i transfer over smb and stream video to my xbmc, i haven't seen any unusual behaviour. firstly try resetting your wet router to defaults, then reconfigure. disable the firewall as it's not needed, i have the wet's ip address on a different subnet than the main network(i did see some unusual stuff a long while back that was solved by doing this, but some reports differ on this). make sure you disable the wan port, disable ntp and any other unnecessary services(qos, mac restrictions, pptp etc) as they aren't necessary for it to be working as a bridge alone.

Well I feel comfortable in saying that it seems to be working now after a week of testing.

Here's what I ended up doing:
    1. Power cycle while holding reset button for 30 seconds
    2. Log into unit and use "erase nvram; reset" command line
    3. Disabled for Internet Connection Type
    4. Separate subnet for Local IP Address
    5. Disable NTP
    6. Disable Firewall
    7. Disable VPN Passthrough
    8. Disable Wired and Wireless QOS
    9. WET Wireless Mode
    10. Wireless channel/SSID/security to match Access Point
    11. Disable Wireless MAC Filter
    12. Soft reboot the unit

I'm not sure exactly what I did to get it working compared to before. Except for the change to AES, and disabling NTP and VPN Passthrough, I did everything exactly the same before.

Thanks for your help, and hope this helps others to get WET running!

    Got additionnal questions concerning this.
I tried it (with two wrt54gs_v2_Hyperwrt 2.1b1 + Thibor15c )the way described here, and it works, in fact it worked right-up the first try.

But my interest behind this is :
is it possible to setup one GS_v2 to make it be WET that would give me access to a wifi network wich I don't have control of, but authorized to connect to?

The wifi network is not encrypted of any sort, I got the SSID, I don't know the channel, the only thing is that it's MAC filtered, but the MAC address of my wifi Intel card is authorized so I can maybe fake the MAC with the GS's cloning feature if it's possible...

    also
    another setup / another place

what is the half-speed thing about this:
    "nvram set afterburner_override=1"
    I'm asking because I have a WDS+AP setup at home wich is composed of two WRT54GS_v2_Hyperwrt 2.1b1 + Thibor15c
and read that WDS is only half speed unless I put this string in the startup script...?
