Problems Connecting to MSN Messenger

Hi, I recently got the WRT54GS v2 model for a home network. At first, everything seemed great. I have two computers connected to the network, one by ethernet wire and the other via the WUSB54GS model USB adapter. The one connected by wire is running on Windows ME and the one connected wirelessly is running on Windows XP Professional. I don't recall having problems with it until yesterday.

I've been having trouble connecting onto the MSN Messenger service (Version 7.5 for XP). It takes a while in the connecting stage, then a message appears stating that it has trouble connecting and that it may be that there is a problem with my Internet connection or the service. I can connect to websites on my browser and I don't have any trouble connecting onto MSN with my other computer. I've downloaded and installed the firmwire from the Linksys website, but it didn't solve the problem. I do find though, that when I disconnect the adapter before I boot the computer and allow Windows to detect that there is no Internet connection, then plugging in the adapter afterwards, that it works just fine.

What could the problem be? I've spent the last two or so hours searching for answers, but I was unsuccessful. Does anyone know what the problem is or what the solution is? Thanks.
