Problems with Email through WAG54G V2

    I have an email server running at home and have a linsys wag54g V2 wireless router connecting my network to adsl2+ with internode.

    I have enabled port forwarding for SMTP MAil and POP3 mail and can successfully receive pop email from my mail server when on an external email client (from the internet)

    The problem i have is it will not send email. I have also set up VPN passthrough and when i VPN tunnel to my network, the SMTP mail can be send without any problems using the real server name (internal name), but the internet address again of the mail server (which resolves to the external IP Address of the router) fails.

    Does anyone know if there are any special settings that need to be put in place to get SMTP Email working properly through the Linksys gateway.

    Incidentally - i can receive SMTP Email through the gateway - ie, people can send me emails to my mail server, i just cant connect and send smtp myself from mt email client when external.

    I am using outlook 2003 as the email client.

    I have investigated the email server and it is quite happy sending email when on the local network - and has been set up so long as you authenticate peopely it will accept email from anywhere.

    any help would be greatly appreciated.

    The email server is MailEnable.

    Hi, I'm just using a WAG54G V1.2, but I had the same prob.
    Network traces showed in SMTP Communication missing <ack> packages.
    After a chat with the support, I've been told to change the MTU Setting from auto to Manual with Size 1492 - and so, my 6-month lasting prob disappeared just right now :cheer:
